20-20 cricket ftw. They should drop Tennis as well. I don't mind Football because a lot of football players are willing to miss a few matches in order to win a gold medal. Which unlike Tennis the players cba I.e. A.Murray.

Well because in the last few Olympics Britain was always around 8th and 9th and Italy, Australia and Germany always ahead. Oh well Britain is having a good run this year and Italy I have to admit are doing crap. Well congrats to Britian then. Personally we Italians don't care if you Brits finish ahead of us. I think though the Australians have a rivalry with you Brits and want to beat you. This will be interesting to see which nation finishes on top.

By the way, although tennis may not truly belong in the Olympics, football defenitly does. For one it is the oldest International (For nations) Association Football tournament in the world. The first Olympic Football tournament was held in 1896. (This was unoffical) The first offical tournament was in the 1900 Olympic games. The first FIFA World Cup, the second oldest football tournament was first held in 1930. The 30s was an era where Italy were super dominant. They won the World cup in 1934 and 1938 and also the Olympics Football Gold medal in 1936.

Look at Slovenija. 1 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze. Not bad for 2 million people. Sure beating the Croats who don't have any Gold yet and 4.5 million. :blah::blah::blah: Sorry mum. :hehe:

True say on the football inclusion for the Olympics. Take Lionel Messi for instance. The guy was willing to make a stance against Barca that may have resulted in him moving away from his beloved club. All just for the chance to win the Olympic gold medal. The players give it their all to win the Gold medal so that's why I reckon it should be kept as an Olympic sport.

why dont Great Britain field a Football team?

The Scottish, Welsh and N.Irish don't want to have a football team with England. Probably because of the rivalry and the fact that team "GB" would probably consist of 9 Englishman and 1 Welsh and Scottish. But now things have calmed down and they're in talks in forming a team for 2012. Which I wouldn't mind. With maybe God in charge of the team.
