How the hell is this thread only 9 pages long? What's happened to the epic 30-page long race threads we used to have?

BTW, WHAT A TERRIFIC GRAND PRIX!! Amazing action from start-finish, don't you think? :D

I enjoyed watching this GP; Perez/Button going wheel to wheel was a highlight, di Resta getting another fourth place finish was a great moment for me; I was so hoping that he could have held on five laps to claim a podium. But if FI can keep bringing a car like they had today, I think a podium could happen for di Resta before the end of the season. Disappointed with Button's result, it seems like Button's gamble of two stop strategies is the wrong way to go, it worked in China, but failed in Bahrain as cars streamed past him and had to made a third stop anyway demoting his to tenth place. Great drive from Perez, although he needs to keep his head better, the amount of times he banged wheels and other car parts could have ended in disaster for him and the other drivers he clashed with!

The bulk of the posts seem to be in other threads but the site seems to be dead of late compared to this time last season.

This is not a do you think Hamilton should have been penalised or not question, as the rules are that he should have.

Pirelli reckon it was track debris that caused Hamiltons tyre failure in practice which caused the damage that led to merc having to change his gearbox, is it right that the driver and team should be penalised under such circumstances when it's not through design, manufacture or usage?

I suppose introducing some sort of dispensation would be open to possible abuse but in this case what fault were Hamilton or the team responsible of to recieve a penalty?

None. Rules are rules, did you see Brawn's interview right after qualifying yesterday? He looked seriously cheesed off when asked about the gearbox issue, and trying to keep a straight face since Nico earned a pole.

If it can be proven beyond all reasonable doubt that the team or driver is not at fault then there should be some sort of dipensation as the time lost to carry out repairs is a penalty in itself.

I found it dragged on but I think this is more to do with the early pitstops tricking me into thinking more of the race has passed.

Good result though it would have been a bit better if di Resta had held onto 3rd.
