Yeah I'm sure if Newey said hey I wanna go manerello they'd say no

Guaranteed. AN has two chances of working at Maranello, "not very good" and "fecking awful".

Classic case of wolf and sour grapes. Ferrari being the wolf, and Newey being the grapes.

ESPNF1:
Red Bull's technical director Adrian Newey says there is no guarantee that his team will be able to maintain its advantage into 2013.

Red Bull won its third consecutive constructors' and drivers' championships this year and by the end of the season had one of the fastest cars on the grid. Next year's regulations will not change a huge amount from 2012, meaning Red Bull can continue to develop the RB8 into the RB9, but Newey said his team is not getting complacent.

"We have [finished the season strongly], but that's no guarantee of anything," he said. "We know what we hope to achieve over the winter but we have no idea what everybody else will achieve. We'll turn up in Melbourne and see, and that's the great thing about Formula One, you never know."

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner said Red Bull learned a lot from the 2012 season and it would apply those lessons to the 2013 car.

"I think we've got such a strong group [of people], but you can always learn," he said. "We learned a lot of lessons this year and we've got to apply them. I think that one of the strengths of this team is that we are never satisfied and we will always look inwards, whether that's engineers, technicians or people in production; all the different departments are looking at where we can improve and what we can learn. I think it's that spirit and desire that's kept us at the top for three years."

They have given a similar interview last year, and implied the doubts of being the fastest car on the grid more than once or twice. Then came the result, second half of the season.

They're the best race team out there at the moment by a margin. In Redbull's view, they sort of made a hash out of it in the 1st part this season, and still took the spoils.

Newey plays down the development this season's car a bit:

Red Bull chief technical officer Adrian Newey fears that the RB9 could be late, after the team had to focus heavily on developing the RB8 late into the 2012 season.

Sebastian Vettel pipped Fernando Alonso to the 2012 crown, with Newey believing Red Bull’s efforts on 2012 could lead to a late start in 2013.

“We were introducing developments to the car right up to the penultimate race,” Newey told Autosport.

“That has made it difficult to introduce all of those and simultaneously develop the next car. If I’m honest, this has compromised the timescales of the new car more than we would have liked.”

Newey nevertheless agrees with Red Bull’s decision to focus on Vettel’s push for a third crown.

“It was the right trade at the time, because we managed to get the job done but it means a busy winter trying to catch up again.”

The first test of 2013 takes place in Jerez, Spain from February 5th – 8th. Red Bull will announce next week whether the RB9 will be unveiled in time for that test.

How about this for Redbull Spin:

Webber stays as number two - Marko

Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko says Mark Webber will be the number two to Sebastian Vettel in 2013.

Vettel secured his third consecutive world championship last season as Red Bull also won the constructors' title, while Webber finished the year in sixth in the drivers' standings. As a result, Vettel has finished higher than Webber in the championship in each of the four years that they have been team-mates at Red Bull, and Marko says he doesn't expect that to change in the new season.

"Mark knows what we expect of him," Marko told Sport Bild. "For four years, Vettel and Webber have driven together in our team. Sebastian was runner-up once and champion three times. The statistic speaks for itself. There is no reason to think the balance of power will change."

However, Webber has previously said he would not take on a supporting role to Vettel in 2013.

"Obviously with Sebastian's form, he's clearly on the front foot; not only from within our team but he's won three world titles on the bounce now so all the drivers have got to try and topple him," Webber told Reuters.

"I don't go there thinking I've got to be playing a team role as such. I'm there for myself, to get the best results possible and to do that I need to be part of the team. So, no, I'm not going there thinking in a supporting role at all."

Thanks for that statement Marko. Now crawl back under your rock. The guy's a jerk.

Yes, even though what he says is probably likely, coming from him.... yuck.

He's only a jerk if you take what he says seriously. He's not as bad as Luca di Monty and Stephanie Dominos when thet get going.
