Seeing as there are bound to be some teachers knocking about on here probably best to get their views.

I'll give my ha’penny worth though - my Mum is a teacher, the Auntie that I know (I don't know the other one and have no wish to) was a teacher, my Dad's best friend's wife was a teacher and several of my Mum's friends are teachers. From what I can gather of the education system it is vastly overstretched and there is not enough emphasis on the right kind of subjects.

The problem is discipline or the lack of. Too many parents seemingly claim they are too busy to look after their offspring so expect the education system to do this. The solution is simple, have fewer kids so they can afford to have one parent stay at home but I digress. Whilst a parent can discipline their child in a many that means they know they have done wrong, a teacher cannot. Once upon a time not too long ago (about 30 years) the strap was still around in Scottish schools. I remember my Mum telling me that she never had to use it, but the threat was enough.

The main problem with the education system is there is far too much emphasis on unimportant subject like running around or PE as it is known, art and religious studies. I mean when there kids coming out of secondary schools without basic literacy and arithmetical skills there is something far wrong, but this is not a new problem. Granted there will always be some how struggle either through low intelligence or learning difficulties.

Parents need to take responsibility for their spawn rather than passing the buck with the flimsiest of excuses. Either have fewer kids or cut back on the luxuries. The problem is a lack of respect to authority figures, be it a teacher, the police etc. This is something that can only be taught in the home but far too many parent claim they are too busy, which is total :bs: in my opinion.

I wouldn’t put the blame on the education system, I would place it firmly with the parents for raising spoilt little brats.

I'm pretty sure Billindenver was banned. JensonB was part of a contingent that included Gaz and others who set up a rival website. Vanilla Bear appears to be on a break.

Not enough time is there? Convenient, i feel priveleged by the way that you choose to spend the little time you claim to have apparently, and full knowingly, engaging in arguments with someone who at the end you pull of the high and mighty "some people know better" clause,a and give yourself a big clap on the back for being so intellectually superior. Anyone can succeed at university, unforuntately the rest of us were four years too early in facing up to the reality of life and chose to spend it earning a living rather then dossing off the taxpayer, in case you were wondering what i think of pretentious universtity graduates.

My argumentativeness is a a direct result of the social delinquents on here that display discouraging traits of being total loners, probably bullied, that get high off consistently picking arguments over the internet, because they lack the minerals to say boo to a ghost in their real lives. Take of that as you wish, its crystal clear to see. Some people are just like that, not least over the internet. i could name half the people on here who i truly think are those people, and so could a few others.

Unfortunately, as if it wasnt clear as day to see, i lack the restraint not to rise to the bait of these people.

You need to calm down. Nothing whatsoever to do with being 'intellectually superior', it's to do with knowing my own area of expertise. As I went to great pains to point out, I'm not an expert in mechanics, I'm not an expert in Medical areas. I'm also not an expert in science type stuff or engineering. As such I would never argue with the experts in those areas about their area if they told me about it - I'd accept what they say as likely being true. What I am an expert in are the areas I specialise and work in, am qualified and experienced in, so of course if an area of discussion is on an open forum I'm an active member of and I see misinformation being spread about one or more of those areas I'm going to pick up on it. Also, I'm afraid I have to tell you, I didn't 'live off the tax payer' when I was at university. I had to pay fees as I went before they were subsidised in Scotland. I also worked full time whilst I studied paying tax as I was way over the tax free level. And indeed as I'm now a higher rate tax payer I pay a substantial amount of tax every month - circa £1k - and another £300 or so in NI, is that enough? Or should I pay more?

I'm not even going to respond to the weird paragraph about social delinquents, loners, minerals and saying boo...

Again, you need to calm down and take a breath...

Well in that case i apologise for ridiculing you. But i still have some of the same views as i did before, because not all the questions were answered.

And no need to be patronising, not least because i kept calmer throughout. Bit rich that.

Im a teacher, of some experience. It's not what the're taught, its how. Don't get me going on that one!!
However by the time we get them at school at the age of 4or5, there's very little we can do to compensate for bad parenting up to that point. How scary is that!
