I thought it was well established on here, there isn't really a spirit of the rules, f1 is about competition.

I doubt the media reception will be the same if they used an old car anyway, maybe they wanted to plug the 150 Italia thing.

No ones said they are using new parts did they? Was this a legitimate media day ? No was this used as a test day? Yes. Is it illegal? No. Is it dirty? Yes.

Actually, a "media" day is where the team runs there current car on a track to get images and video footage for use in commercials, on websites and for use by sponsors etc. Every team has them, and they all use them. Every team runs their "current" spec car for these days, it's where they can setup up shots and video.

When a team runs an older car (I think 2 or more seasons old) they are effectively getting/using a "free" media day).

I'm pretty sure they took media images and footage that is needed and will be used by the team, their website and sponsors.

There are quite a few images from the day, no measuring equipment, no pit wall, car was parked in the media after running so no measurements there. Special tyres are used for these days so no comparable data can be collected.

Here's a thought, perhaps Ferrari actually went 24 hours with viciously cheating and undermining F1

It is written somewhere in Maranello that the cars livery would be changed to something other than red if they achieved that goal. :hehe:

Seriously, I can't wait for this weekend to begin... these are such non issues, this weekend at least we'll have more concrete things to talk about. Does anyone remember the bounty of conversation we harvested from Turkey's race last year?

never

They aren't quite as bad as you think :)

These bl00dy 3 week gaps, as if the off season isn't bad enough....

Well, I'm prepared to reveal one of Gestione Sportiva's best kept secrets. We did actually go for a period of 24 hours and 3 seconds without cheating. It was during the ice-age and there were no living mammals on the face of the earth, however, be that as it may, we managed to go over that 24 hour mark and, accordingly a new livery was struck (see image below) - however, no-one liked it so we just lied about that golden 24 hour "cheat free" period and went back to our evil, dastardly wicked ways - as well as our familiar red.

It's actually kewl that Ferrari can get so much attention from a media filming day.

Not one picture, image or video out of all the shots taken to shown anything new was added to the car - that turns into "Ferrari at it again" :hehe:

Which of course completely begs the question of why on earth Ferrari would dream of trundling out all their new bits during a media day when they already had scheduled a private test session the very next day. I can just see that discussion....

"should we wait until tomorrow and test in private all the new bits during our formal test session when we can add all the wiring, additional units and other measuring bits along with the flow viz while we do the constant speed runs necessary"

OR

"should we put them on the car today, when we can't measure anything, but we can be sure that every man and his dog with a camera will take copious shots of everything new"

"I agree with you Stefano, lets put it all on for the media day"

Because any data is good data.

If they can run it today even in "media spec" and they get a bit of useful info then its worth it.

It is cheating though like Bud says Mclaren use Older 08 car for media days why can't Ferrari?

Because there is no rule saying they have to? If they aren't breaking any rules, why is the McLaren camp so up in arms? Several times now someone has said they were running new parts but when asked which parts, who said so, where are the photos....nothing but silence.

Seriously guys, why must you always cry cheat, or foul when none exist? Ferrari will surely get caught cheating for real sooner or later, but if you scream cheat at the top of your lungs every time they sneeze..nobody will believe you when its actually true.

Please Billy stop being so Mclarenist its like every time a Mclaren fan makes a comment you remind them that they support Mclaren.

I know i support Mclaren - thanks again for reminding me you can stop it now, ta.

The parts could be under the skin, or not vastly different from the current parts and its not like there been many photos.

And its funny how they have just announced a new front and rear wing for turkey after their test day, err sorry media day..

Your correct though there is no rule against it, but thats because there hasn't been a need for it since every other team uses older cars, since they don't test new parts on media days.

Ferrari did this last year its clearly being used to by-pas the test ban so they need to change the rule.

Billy is it? Learned that from your buddy What's Burning did ya? Keep trying. Surely you can do better.

Bud just said that "nobody" is saying there were new parts...and here you are saying the new parts are hidden or not drastically different. Thanks for proving my point. Now tell me this, if there are no rules against what you think they've done and nobody has shown so much as a photo suggesting they did what you think they've done....what exactly is it you are crying about? No test equipment onsite. No extra sensors on the car. No race tires and no aero pieces changed...what do you think they have tested? Have you ever tried to test performance increases on a car at 10/10ths without any equipment with which to record differences in performance?

Take off the tin foil hat. This isn't as easy as changing a wing on your video game. No way they would make changes they couldn't quantify. It was a media day...and you are wrong when you say all other teams use old cars. Even if everything you say is true, and it's not....they still would have broken no rules. So again, what are you on about?

That's your source?

I was wrong....clearly you can't do better.

However, multiple sources have suggested that the car was fitted with a number of parts that are set to be used for the first time in the Turkish Grand Prix in Istanbul this weekend.

Omnicorse.it has reported that the car featured change to the rear diffuser and suspension, while Globo and Autosprint have also reported that the team 'took a risk' by running development parts during the filming day.
