So near yet so far.

It is unfortunate that we had to be knocked out in such fashion. The team was fantastic considering the opposition, the crowd were second to none and it was yet another rollercoaster ride for Scotland.

With every passing qualification phase, one begins to lose confidence in Scotland ever being in a big competition again. However such fears will not stop me supporting in future.

Northern Ireland can, in theory, still qualify, but it will be tough. It's a shame, as I felt we could qualify this time round. Sadly, an egotistical manager wrecked our chances, and one or two instances of poor luck pretty much sealed the deal.

Yes Northern Ireland is another example of seizing the opportunity. Especially considering how long you have waited to be in a major final.

I hope it does go well for you this time, at least then I could take interest in a home nation for the world cup.

If not we'll have to suffer 1966 and all that nonsense.

Good stuff from england - they played the best I can remember(even if mines a blur), good attacking from the midfield along with tight marking and pressing there. the players certainly started looking focus and sharp, but it did get sloppy although the lead was comfortable at the time.

But that defence looks too suspect, we now need some serious testing against the best out there.

hard luck scots - I appreciate your catch 22 situation, low seed put in hard group. Hard group means you don't qualify and improve your seeding.

I agree with you there, it was really a poor performance throughout the campaign. Alas that is how we always have to do it, the hard way.
