havent been on here recently since i got my new job, nice to be back :)

i Predict an Alonso pole tomorrow, however, i do not predict an Alonso win, because i think Vettel is going tomake him his target this sunday.

I dont see how that one manouvre would draw a conclusion that Ferrari have superior brakes this season. But Alonso did well in Monaco, his best drive by far this season I'd say. I wouldn't put that race down to brakes either though.

Of course I don't know for definite, and no that one manoeuvre doesn't prove it, it was just a response to the fandboish biased comments about Alonso overtaking the backmarkers seemingly meaning the Ferrari isn't good under braking.

Can't remember where I picked up the idea, might have been a comment from Brundel or a blog on the bbc, but I picked up the idea from somewhere, and trust me just because I can't remember where doesn't make it un-reliable.

Anyway, wouldn't it be better if we just drop this?

Just to close this little OT: Martin Brundle mentioned this during a GP, although I can't remember which.

Does anyone else think that McLaren are sandbagging still, if they aren't I still think they will win maybe a 1-2 for Qualli and Race because of the fact they have been setting the pace & their car regardless of todays outcome is better suited to this track than the likes of Ferrari & RedBull.

They clearly have gathered the most data today, running several setups and I was surprised that Lewis was faster than Button with the F-Duct off... I hope they run it tomorrow though because I still think its a no brainier to keep it on the car.

I'm surprised that RedBull were up there, with Vettel 2nd and 1st and Webber 6th both times... very good performance.
Good performance by Ferrari for FP2

I can't call the order of the first 6 drivers tomorrow or Sunday... however I think Hamilton and Button will have both in the top 4 (I was tempted to say both on podium. Ferrari, McLaren and RedBull with Kubica scrapping and hanging onto them causing them issues.

There will be then another VERY close battle between: Mercedes, Force India, Williams, Vitaly Petrov

Battle between Toro Rosso and BWM Sauber

Then the obvious: Lotus, Virgin, Hispania train :P

It will be ideal to snatch pole because so long as you get a good getaway then there won't be the possibility of losing out in the chicane

Yes. They seem to have run a LOT of options, which leaves them well prepared but maybe not with the best times. So definitely, the fight for pole could be between Mclaren and Ferrari. But for some reason i think the Ferraris are pushing the hardest and therefore dangerously close to the limit. This will probably be the closest track in terms of performance....

About the Fduct; I dont see how people say its a no brainer and the teams are still undecided, wasted valuable FP time trying both configs and are still going around debating choices and options?? Seems like a coin toss, but not a no-brainer.

I think it'll be between Mclaren and Redbull for pole, with Ferrari and Renault just behind (Renault's F-duct seems to be working well here as well).

Did McLaren run soft tyres during the second free practice anyone? Saw clips of the Red Bulls and the Italians getting it a bit sideways with soft tyres but not the McLarens.

jenson tried just the f-duct with heavy downforce wing

lewis tried f-duct with heavy downforce wing and 2nd setup of no f-duct but low downforce wing

so i guess they will try low downforce wing + f-duct in FP3 as that does seem to be the train of thought for the other f-duct monza spec setups.

Yes they did, a little earlier than the redbulls and Ferrari's though,

I think Lewis will get pole and win :P .....Unless a bad thing happens...sometimes bad things happen. But if bad things dont happen then lewis will win.

They'll have whatever they've chosen for quali/race so they can work on setup and I don't think they've got a low downforce wing that's able to use the f-duct anyway. It'll be interesting to see if Jenson and Lewis Have different choices.

I don't think such a thing exists, since a low downforce rear wing would make the f-duct useless :)

The downforce generated by the low downforce wing still causes drag so it could still work but it'd be whether or not any advantage from that is outweighed by the drag from the f-duct itself over the course of a lap.

martin whitmarsh confirmed at the start of FP1 in a interview that they had multiple wings and that included 2 "small" wings aka low downforce / drag
