Wouldn't it be more productive simply to start a thread in Anything Else rather than General F1 Discussion if you want to discuss football or other sports?

Was McLarens dominance back in the '80's bad for F1, simply put NO!

The situation back then was slightly different, however. The sport's regulations were more interesting, the tracks more exciting, the drivers more charismatic (especially Senna), and Piquet was a bit of a pantomime villain. On top of that, even though McLaren were wiping the floor with everybody else, Senna and Prost had a pretty captivating rivalry, and Mansell was in the mix as well. At the moment, Brawn are doing well in a sport that is inherently less exciting than it was two decades ago, and Button is thrashing Barrichello. 2009 has been a yawn fest.
