Just what exactly is wrong with bashing FerrarI?

It's not like they are a team who have always been in the forefront of technical prowess is it? - Witness Enzo's belated acceptance of rear engined cars, for example.

Or that they have always put their drivers 1st - the names Lauda & Surtees spring to mind here, to name but 2.

In short, Ferrari deserve all the bashing they get & to think otherwise is simply demonstrating a total inability to grasp the realities of the sport.

You sound like AKR reversed.

Unsurprising coming from the two of you, knowing full well about this deal and yet using it to bash Ferrari again (as always).
A bit surprising though to hear those comments like shameful and hypocritical and double standards from a supporter of a team that cheated and brought the entire sport in disrepute

Well, it really shows what a disgusting piece of Vermin Montezemolo is. He criticises the sport's authorities and we think we are getting somewhere, only for it to transpire Ferrari has been getting secret handshakes from Eccelestone. Ferrari are Montezemolo are scum.

I think you'll find that McLaren gets more money than other, smaller and less historic, teams as well. The way that people are describing this, you'd think that Ferrari gets more than everybody else, but the other teams are all getting the same amount. Is McLaren going to share its extra cash with smaller teams? I think not.

Oh, and this extra money for Ferrari is hardly secret, it's been well known for years. McLaren (Mercedes) and the other manufacturers played a game of brinksmanship with someone with the known personality and political strategies as Mosley. They can hardly be surprised that the FIA pulled a fast one on them in an entirely predictable fashion.

Bernie is clearly just sh*t-stirring trying to divide and conquer the teams. It worked last time, wonder if it will work this time.

Your right about the s*** stirring but i doubt Mclaren gets any more than say Williams.

This is all old news. The special deal was unofficially leaked at the time already - everybody in or into F1 'knew' or assumed as much. So, to get your knickers in a twist about this is disingenuous or shows lack of understanding how F1/FIA/BE/Ferrari and the other teams work and what the interdependencies are.
It's the same principle as in law enforcement: the first gang member to talk to the prosecutor gets a sweetheart deal. Ferrari signed up with BE as the first team and saved F1 from splitting up by recruiting the rest of the teams due to its weight and importance.

Correct, I am not going to read 6 pages of sour grapes from Ferrari Anti's, but I will second this is not a bad thing.

This deal doesn't make me sick, what makes me sick is the naive reactions from all the people posting on this thread that has no idea how the real world works...

Its a f***ing sport mate it should be fair for everyone who enters.

Would you be still going on about the real world if Bernie said Mclaren can now use Turbo V8's but Ferrari can't no you would be screaming about unfairness.

Obviously my example is abit extreme but an extra 80- 160mil each year can help them put more money into devopment and also puchase the best equipment, Staff and drivers.

its not fair and its not right.

Williams has a long (though not as long) and illustrious history in F1. So it should do quite well according to the formula. As far as I understand it. But it hasn't been around quite as long as McLaren nor won quite so many championships. So, McLaren probably does get more money than Williams, but probably not a huge amount more.

Except for last year of course :yikes:

I wouldn't mind seeing every team getting the same amount of cash. But the arguments against this back in 2003 was that you might get new teams who join up just to run a shoestring operation and make a profit from the TV money. Particularly back when it was expected that there would be customer cars running. So the formula helps prevent that. It also entrenches the top teams at the top of the hierarchy. Which the top teams wanted, including McLaren.

The money McLaren gets is based on its standings in the constructors' title. As McLaren are generally pretty far up the table, it gets more prize money. That is completely different scenario from Ferrari's secret handshake, whereby they get extra money on top of their prize money.

the other teams are not bothered so it kind of suggests there is more to it. Bernie is pulling on strings but its not working. I think FOTA will overtake his empire very soon
