But nothing is impossible in F1 nowadays :(
Bernie wants more show, and more money IMHO. And that's not the way F1 should be.

Research the past 25-30yr's of F1, your belief's are nothing new I'm sorry to say.

yeah, that's exactly what I was meaning. If anything starts to work in F1, we need to change it, cause it doesn't sell :(

The system has the potential to shorten the title races, which is exactly the reason why Ecclestone wanted the current system introduced not so long ago. :banghead:

Ecclestone is only interested in his how much cash he can get from Formula One. At the moment, he feels this scoring system will yield more cash.

I have a strange feeling that we F1 fans will soon witness a blizzard of new or changing rules that will virtually eliminate what F1 is about. :banghead:

I'm depressed now and I need a hug HB!

Why would he want to shorten title races?

i mean if Lewis had not made a hash of Japan and won in China would as many people watched Brazil?

he brought in this point system so the title wasnt decided by Schumacher half way through the year which worked in 03 with Kimi taking it to the wire with only 1 win.

now he is on the opinion that drivers in 2nd or 3rd are holding place knowing they get a good points hall and cant be bothered passing the guy infront or go for the win. I mean Lewis didnt want the win in Belgium did he.......
but by making it a gold medal tally for the title there will be a passing frenzy in Bernies eyes.....

Yeh but its a simple case of if it aint broke don't fix it.

We may well just end up with Lewis going for alot of wins and winning the title 3 races for the end or whatever

going for just race wins is boring, when it comes to a title crunch at the end is exciting because it makes the mind think, hey how many points does 'so-in-so' need to beat 'whats his face' and whats the lowest position he needs to be in! Statistics and strategies are what make sports work, so why dumb it down bernard?

as other people have said, this system is flawed simply because it makes the only important battle in an F1 race the one between McLaren and Ferrari. The rest of the teams essentially just get another hour and a half of practice. It's absurd.

Well it could be any teams not just Mclaren and Ferrari but yeh your right they need to make F1 about everyteam not just the ones that can compete for race wins and podiums.

I think the system is for the WDC not the WCC, points will remain the same for the teams

From F1 Live:

Former team owner Eddie Jordan has slammed Bernie Ecclestone's proposal to introduce an Olympic Games-style 'medals' scoring system for Formula One.

During a press conference in London on Wednesday, F1 Chief Executive Ecclestone reiterated his plan, revealing that the teams are also fully supportive.

But Jordan, who sold his Silverstone-based team at the end of 2004, told the BBC: "I think (the proposals) are a nonsense."

"I can't possibly believe he's thinking straight, especially on this one. His focus must be on cost-cutting and nothing else. The rest is just dressing it up."

Jordan disagrees completely that scrapping the current points system, expanded from the top six finishers to the top eight some years ago, is a good idea.

"I was one of the team principals who advocated the points should go down to eighth place because one point is as important to those teams as a win is to McLaren and Ferrari," he said.

"He is tinkering with something on which he has lost the understanding. He thinks only wins matter."

"There has not been enough thought put into this and for him to say that it comes with the full approval of all the teams - I'm sorry, I just don't believe it."
