Theres a new pit and paddock area going in the infield and that extra loop so I cant see how they can. Its so small in there

Well I think tht section is still easily accessed over the bridge and tht, surely they can work something out.
I mean you may well be right - but Id like to think the natural bowl of tht track will still exist

As long as the track isn't flattened and turned into a Shanghai clone with not even the Dunlop bridge surviving I'll be happy.

Donnington - I don't think the loop is as bad as expected. Infact My earlier picture isn't half bad now eh? LOl

The loop doesn't look as bad compared to other famous Tilke looks, and it will spit the cars out into a hairpin, so the drivers will have to be careful not to lock their brakes. I don't see what else they could have done to lengthen the track, to be honest. Personally, I think the layout will be fine. My biggest grip is that the Esses are going! Having a chicane like that is great, particularly from at the start of the race or when you get two cars battling closely for position. Surely they could have been preserved. :crying:

Probably be some stupid reason to do with lack of run off area, or the straight too short.
It'll be some stupid reason. Im glad tho that most of the lap is unchanged.

Apologies Racechick seems they wont let people into the infield section at Hollywood. That's a joke! :banghead:

An interesting point is the lap times/distances - i can't see that small loop adding too much time to the lap, and Prost's '93 pole time was around 1:10! The new circuit is supposed to be about 3 miles long, so that's going to work out at what, 60, 65 laps?

Yeah, that seems about right, I wonder where major overtaking opportunities will be.
Probably down at Melbourne. The Hairpin in the new loop into the old pitstraight may also be good.

That's pretty much my guess, maaaaaybe Redgate too, depending on what the new regs bring.

Does anyone else reckon those Esses may actually stay? I have a feeling they might in some form, the BTCC and so on don't use the GP circuit anyway so they surely won't use an even longer version... :scratchchin:

Well if you look at the picture they still have the chicane in the plans that the likes of the BTCC currently use, so im thinking that the esses are done for.
Im more worried about the Dunlop bridge :(

Ah yeah, my bad, i was getting the Esses and the other chicane confused, thinking they were the same thing.

I can't see the Dunlop bridge staying, unless they use it as the starting light gantry type thingy (would be cool but very unlikely) or move it to the old start straight... It surely has to be present in some form, i would hope anyway. :(

If they can't fit it in where it currently is I hope they at least relocate it, getting rid of the Dunlop bridge altogether would be a crime. I still have a Dunlop bridge which I used to use with my old Scalextric stuff.

I know, surely they can keep it.
Bet the Tv directors come out with some crap about it being a distraction.
Maybe I should write to that Gillett guy and ask him?
