Well that was an interesting program.

I am never too sure how bias Panarama is though.

Since we don't get it on this side of the pond, do tell, please?

Beanie has many fingers in many pies. Eddie Irvine spoke out about him on the program.

Apparently in 95 all the teams got together with Bernie and they wanted the TV rights for the sport. Bernie became the voice of the teams (I was unsure on this as I thought it happened year before with foca. Anyway)

A company called BLB (or something like that) ended up owning the rights and Bernie running the sport for them. BLB went bust and that mean someone had to buy the TV rights as it was an asset, the head of who choose who the rights where sold to if the rights where sold to a CVC, then to quote Bernie "He would be looked after" at that point 40 odd million was put into a trust fund for said man. 4 years later a journalist finds this trust fund and realises that the said man would never be able to have a fund with that much money in it because of his salary. So it was investigated and the money came half from Bernie and half from another trust fund called Bambino. With a lot of smoke and mirrors, Bambino is a trust fund that Bernie says he has nothing to do with even though the Settlor and trustee is his solicitors wife. Plus they proved other connections to Bambino and other funds that Bernie says he has nothing to do with.

Bernie would not talk to the panorama people for some reason.

However poor Bernie since his divorce because his ex wife was the trustee in the Ecclestone Family Trust did not own anything. So she has to pay him to keep him in the life he accustomed to only 100 million a year. Poor bugger.

Right, Im no fan of Bernie, but that show was crap. It reported on hearsay and half truths. For isntance, the £100M Bernie gets paid by his wife from the Bambino Trust Fund - that 'fact' came from a lawyer, who was a trustee, and when giving evidence in one of the trials actually said "I don't know the actual figure - but I guess it'd be somewhere around £100M"

Panorama then pounce on that and take it as gospel.

Plus I think they painted him as a second hand car salesman who lucked into the sport. But from what I know, he started off as a driver, wasnt very good, then become a driver manager, but the driver died, so he took 10 years out (where he was a car salesman), then he came back as a team owner.

I think they investigated, and reported on the facts to suit their own storyline.

Bernie was a used car salesman, well motorbikes actually. He started trading and then set up hs own dealership. With Fred Compton, but Betnie was wheeler dealing long before he left school at 16. He used to but nuns and sell them on at a profit in the school yard. His dad was a fisherman, trawler.
There's more information on him in these articles if anyone's interested.

I think there is enough evidence around that there is deals within deals going on. Is Bernie untruthful?
