Seems like Hamilton's performance had a big impact on some people... :hehe:

I don't think anyone's worried about his performance. We're worried about him stopping out on the track, the reasons for this, and what consequences there will or won't be.

Please try to keep up.

I'm not quite sure how McLaren can escape punishment here!

I predict there will not be any punishment in terms of grid place penalties or anything else that will adversely affect LH's likelihood of gaining points.

At worst McLaren will be given a fine.

As long as Rosberg did't got in trouble for his ''deadly'' moves, I wouldn't worry about such a minor issue.

Yes. As I said before, the stewards appear to be very hesitant to give any realistic race-changing penalties. Maybe a driver's representative broke in while they were having a big steward orgy with some farmyard animals and are threatening to release the pictures to the press should there be any penalties.

Strange qualifying. I think several teams have been quite naive in terms of strategy tomorrow - it's still gonna be hard to pass in spite of DRS, one extra set of tyres won't change that. At the other extreme i'm not sure why McLaren put Hamilton out twice in Q3 and took even more life from that set of used tyres, as he might need them tomorrow. Unless he plans to use hard tyres in most stints tomorrow. He goes in as my pick to win at this stage, but i wouldn't bet my house on it.

Star of today is Maldonado, amazing lapping, if that guy can just remove his wreckless streak he'd be a very strong driver.

Be interesting to watch Webber and Button tomorrow, but i wouldn't expect anything like what we saw from Raikkonen at Bahrain given the overtaking problem i mentioned previously.

BTW MASSA = :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

On the grounds the racist spaniards don't like Lewis,My guess is he gets done for it.

That's a pretty damn moronic thing to say.

Here's a question, should Hamilton have that pole time removed for this fuel business, will he then have to start on that worn set he used in Q3 as it was the set he used for the 'other' quickest Q3 time he did?

Also, just noticed that Karthikeyan might just have trouble getting dispensation to race (he missed 107% by miles, but i think there will be a technical problem as the reason for that), no particularly good practice times set by him...

Are the stewards actually looking into this? There are articles around discussing it, but they don't mention whether or not the stewards are actually looking into it.

Edit: Yes, the stewards are going to have a meeting to discuss it.

McLaren is probably quaking in their boots about the prospect of getting a $10,000 fine and a reprimand as happened in 2010.

I believe they are having a meeting with the stewards to give their 'force majeure' reasoning, yes. edit - didn't see your edit!

I heard that Kathikeyan had a decent time in Practice 3 today and could try to make a case with it...

Lewis put to the back of the field

http://www1.skysports.com/formula-1/new ... e-position

Lewis Hamilton has been stripped of his pole position for the Spanish GP and demoted to the back of the grid after race stewards found his car to have been under-weight during qualifying.

Under orders from his McLaren team, Hamilton stopped his MP4-27 out on track as he toured the circuit after completing the lap that had - seemingly - secured pole position on Saturday.

The car was discovered to have had just 1.3 litres on fuel after it was craned back to the pits - an insufficient amount for the MP4-27 to have completed the lap and then provided the mandatory one-litre fuel sample.

Although McLaren pleaded that the shortage had been caused by a fuel-rig fault and had not influenced the result of qualifying, with Hamilton the fielding by in excess of half a second, the stewards have taken a dim view of the infringement and excluded qualifying and sent him to the back of the grid.

More to follow...

Wasn't expecting that. At worst, I'd have thought his Q3 times would be erased. Pretty harsh, but weren't they the team that brought about the creation of this rule to begin with? I imagine that will probably have something to do with it. :/
