The Honda driver told TV Movie magazine that he hoped the seven time World Champion does not retire, despite speculation that the reaction to Schumacher's Monaco indiscretion might compel him to call it a day.

"I hope Schumacher remains with us for a long time yet," said Button.

The Englishman's opinion may be influenced by the fact that he is yet to win a Grand Prix. Fernando Alonso has remarked that F1's biggest prize will be devalued once arguably the greatest driver of all time quits.

This is lifted off from F1Live, a staunch supporter of Renault. Notice their phrasing in the last sentence (I believe it's their wording, not FA's - the part about the greatest driver), a quite remarkable concession coming from them.

Yeah Shrubby, they had to do that to save face. Even so, this statement is remarkable. It's almost as if RD said that MM is the most reasonable and cooperative FIA boss ever.
