Just wanted to say Hi to the Forumula1.com members!

After careful consideration of all of my options, this seemed the best forum to join to talk about my favourite sport!

I'm a 20 year old guy living in Bristol, UK. I've watched F1 since I can remember, and have always been excited by it, perhaps with the exception of the Michael Schumacher-dominated era. I don't follow a specific team, but my favourite driver has been Mark Webber for a considerable while now. Why no-one ever snapped this guy up and put him in a front-running, reliable car is beyond me. I'd hire him in a second!

Anyway, I look forward to debating with you all in the near future!!

Welcome. Webber is a great driver. It would be nice to see him do well. Part of the reason why he has not achieved the success his ability deserves (race wins at the very least) is mainly because of things beyond his control but also because he isn't too politically savvy. For instance, Webber was in the frame for a McLaren seat this season and was almost certain to get it - but starting bad-mouthing the team a few days before the decision was set to be made. :irked::blush:

Welcome :wavey: Webber has had some bad luck in the past epsically with reliability otherwise he would have a grand prix by now.

You're quite right, but that is in fact part of the reason I like him. He is arguably the most genuine guy on the circuit during interviews, and I admire him for that a lot. I have a copy of F1 Racing magazine from earlier this year, in which he was interviewed, and he said: "F1 is a bit of a goldfish bowl. If you're asked for an opinion and you give it, people say 'Oh why doesn't he shut his mouth?', but if we go around saying 'No comment' then we're all boring bar stewards. You don't want to sit there and talk about understeer and oversteer all the time!"

But regardless - I didn't know he was considered for a McLaren drive, so thanks for the info. :)

What was wrong with Michael Schumacher dominated. What is wrong with being super good. It isn't or wasn't his fault he was that good. What would you of liked him to do, lose on purpose perhaps? I bet if you were always winning at something, that you wouldn't complain?

It wasn't his fault he was that good, it was all the other teams faults. Still doesn't change the fact that the man was BORING to watch.

Me neither. Not bad mouthing a championship winning team isn't political savvy its common sense. Why doesn't he bad mouth Ferrari and really end his career!
