F1 looks great on my LCD, make sure you get one capable of 1080p and you'll be laughing in a few years...

So plasma is dead? What about screens with width of 50 inches and bigger?

Well, plasma and LCD are both nice. But a new technology that you may want to investigate is LCoS. I just bought a 60" LCoS last year and the picture is amazing, Id argue that the color is more vibrant then any plasma I've seen. For about 1/2 the cost of a plasma you can get a LCoS (Liquid Crystal on Silicone chip) TV.

How does it compare with plasma for reflections and half-life?

Not sure. Mine is in a room with windows and skylights and I don't have any issue with reflections or glare. I checked out some customer reviews on the model I purchased before hand and the only issue I found was someone blew there speakers and another's wouldn't turn on after a year :) But I took my chances considering all the horror stories I've heard with plasma. Haven't regretted it since.
