At the beginning of 2007, I started to get a little worried that he had decided to knuckle down, but since, borrow the odd blip for several weeks, he's been pretty average. McLaren and Ferrari both have the right to feel short-changed, so I'm surprised that Ron Dennis was so tolerant of him at McLaren (even including the fact McLaren were absolutely inept for most of the time Raikkonen was with the team). I'm surprised that Ferrari so freely offered him a deal. In fact, I'm surprised how understanding they have been with Raikkonen. We all know how good Raikkonen can be, so perhaps Dennis and Montezemolo are hoping and/or waiting for him to do it. To conclude, is it a good move by Ferrari? Well, it all depends on which Raikkonen shows up. For all his flaws, I like Raikkonen and believe he has the potential to bring something to the party, even if he doesn't always show it, so I'm glad to see that he will still be involved in Formula One. It would nice if he won the title this season so he could claim to be one of the greats who have won back-to-back titles, but I really don't feel he deserves it, which is a shame, for his ability certainly does.
