I'll never forget where I was when I first heard about what was happening. It was truly a turning point in world history. R.I.P.

Yeah, it is one of those moments where people remember exactly where they were.
Things like the Lockerbie bombing, Diana's death, the London bombing or the Kennedy Assasination.

To all those victims - gone but not forgotten.

I was still in bed when the first plane crashed into the towers. My mother got me out of bed (yes, I was 21 and still at that time living in my parents' house) and sounded troubled. She told me a plane had crashed into the World Trade Center and it was on fire. At that time I was thinking about a small, private plane. I thought surely a major airliner wouldn't crash into the towers. I figured they'd get the little fire out within a few hours tops and everything was going to be fine, but since she woke me up I went ahead and got up for a shower.

When I went into the front room and live coverage was on the television, I watched for a bit and found out it was more serious than I originally suspected, but I still figured the towers were substantial enough not to come down, especially as high as it was struck. After a while I continued with my shower, figuring I'd catch up on the story when I got back out. I got out of the shower and back into the front room just in time to see another airliner crossing the screen. I thought, "Surely that isn't happening." I mean, what was the chances of two passenger planes striking the same towers in the same day? But, it happened. At that point it was obvious that something was terribly wrong, and this was more than just a tragic accident. That had to be more than a coincidence. At that time, I don't remember talk about the planes being hijacked, but believe that came about later on into the day.

Here in the US, we've been fortunate to live in a relatively quiet part of the world. We haven't had the conflict like other regions have put up with. We don't normally fall under attack like that here. Normally if we're involved in conflict, it's overseas somewhere in someone else's backyard. 9/11 kinda changed things for a lot of people here.

It is one of those events when you will ask where was i at that time.
well i was at an Irish pub for a mates comedy gig, first i heard of it was in the toilets when a bloke said a plane had hit the twin towers. my initial thoughts were of a small plane like a sesna. When i got home my dad was watching it all on TV and i was shocked to learn it was a passenger plane then the next one came.... needless to say i was watching it on tv until the next morning

even watching footage of it now evokes the shock and horror i felt that night/morning and its something that i will never forget!

RIP to the fallen

Thankfully, I didn't have a T.V or a radio. I was 11 at the time.

I heard about the next day at school when the principal told us not to blame anyone, because that could prove to be a big problem in Sydney - where we are one of the most racially diverse cities in the world.

I didn't get to watch the video of it until last year, a 10 second clip on the news. Finally, I watched it on Youtube a couple of Months ago, and didn't get much sleep for a while after it. I watched every single damn camera angle of it.

And the worst part about it is, we don't actually know who is really to blame for this, as there is some evidence that it was a U.S. Government conspiracy, and then we have evidence (not to mention a direct confession) that it was Bin Laden.

Can't wait for judgement day, when we'll finally know the truth. :(
