Mosley suggested that the end of normally-aspirated engines in Grand Prix racing will coincide with a more environmentally friendly sport of the future.

"The capacity would be up for discussion because we don't want to have a ridiculous level of horsepower," he said, adding that the engines would rev to a minimum of 15,000rpm and use 'bio fuel'.

Mosley also said the final 'fuel burning' stage of the current qualifying system is bad for F1's image and a tweak is possible for 2007.

He explained: "If we want to change that for 2007 we need unanimity. One of the suggestions is that we take five minutes off and allow an extra set of tyres. Then you are going to see non-stop action."

It would be a step in the right direction...

Turbos to be back :D

Anything they can do to be more environmentally friendly is a good thing I think. Especially if the technology can then be ported onto road cars.

Well, initially it will be the other way around: technology already being used in road cars will be ported to F1. There it will be refined and developed and may then improve consumer cars down the road.

I want to see the sport return to the days where it pushed technology forward. Just ban NA engines, or fossil fuelled engines entirely, and see what the teams come up with. Just banning petrol would see Diesel fuelled F1 cars come along, and that's not much better, or even coal fired if Jordan were still in the sport! :D

Hydrogen, my friend, hydrogen - coupled maybe with some solar energy plus batteries.

Not good for circuits like Silverstone... ;)

Nah, that's just a bit more challenging - nothing F1 couldn't sink its teeth into. Pinnacle and all...

Not sure Monaco would work with Solar either, would they just coast through the Monte Carlo tunnel? :D

I'm sure the hydrogen and the batteries will take care of that. You're just being contrarian, aren't you? Maybe the sun shines backwards down under in Melbourne and the solar cells wouldn't work and they'd have to replace them with backwards cells? :D

nah, solar wouldn't do it for F1, although for the near future hybrid tech may be more feasible. There's also hydrogen tech. which is rather promising. check this out : formula zero

Bio-fuel and turbos all the way for me! That would have an instant impact on efficiency and power!
