How good or bad was the British GP?

It was alright for 90% of the race and then, boooom! The drama of the last couple of laps was quite entertaining...

An absolute snorefest for 95% of the race with all cars just out there conserving tires and not really racing. But then a sting in the tail as some drivers did a poor job at preserving their tires and couldn't make their tire strategy work resulting in failures and lots of drama.

So I settled on a 6 as a memorable race.

I think the tire preserving issue had a lot to do with the safety car(s) coming out early in the race, which led to drivers swapping their boots for the hard ones a bit too early. Together with the facts that Silverstone provides for some of the highest lateral G-forces of the season and the speeds are even greater this year, the hard tires inevitably became marginal towards the end of the race. Pirelli also launched an investigation into the role of debris/shards on track, so that may have exacerbated the issue even more.

Gonna be interesting to watch what unfolds during this coming weekend's rerun with a softer selection of tires at hand - if Pirelli sticks to that plan, that is...
