OMG, OMG, OMG you guys! I just realized that next year, we will have the opportunity to beat Sebastian Vettel in a Ferrari. That would be like eating the freshest of seared scallops in a delectable black truffle butter sauce. :cloud9:

And we can watch Massa simultaneously beat his old team and Vettel!

 And, after he's sorted out the sprinklers and plumbing for simulated rain,
Ecclestone is going to audition pigs and train them: ImageImageImage
Of course, he'll have to get a choreographer, too!!

I had this excitement nearing last year when Alonso was in a Ferrari and thought Merc will get them in 2014.....but in the end they had already spanked them back in 2013 by a point.

Beating Vettel in a non-blown diff Ferrari.....meh. Vettel is just a pretty talented kid who struck a 4 year lottery, everyone knows Ferrari are sunk next year with their expected line up.

Don't you get the feeling that there's been seismic activity at the volcano called Ferrari in Maranello? Tough, tough year. Was going to look back and try and see when was the last season the Scuderia went without a win. Seems like they're on the same road McLaren got on last year (even letting go of the super star driver) and the recovery process will take time.

GPUpdate Ferrari's new Chairman, Sergio Marchionne, has vowed to take risks to return to the front of the F1 grid.

Marchionne, the CEO of Ferrari parent company Fiat, officially took over the reins on Monday, when former President Luca di Montezemolo – on board the Italian marque for 23 years – stepped down from his position.

With the team chasing its first world title since the 2008 season, he says immediate action is required.

"We've got to kick some bottom and we've got to do it quickly," Marchionne explained in an interview with Autocar magazine. "It takes what it takes. We might screw up, but we've got nothing to lose, right? Let's risk something."

Marchionne described Ferrari's Italian Grand Prix showing, which yielded just two points, as the turning point.

"I keep getting reminded that racing is not a science. And then I go to Monza and see that the first six cars are not Ferrari or powered by a Ferrari engine, and my blood pressure just popped," added the 62-year-old.

While Marchionne has bold plans for the road car division, he says F1 success is his "main objective".

"A non-winning Ferrari on the Formula 1 track is not Ferrari," Marchionne went on to comment.

"I can live with periods of bad luck, but it cannot become a structural element of the brand."

EDIT: it would be the first winless season in 21 years.

Interesting how Merc were always said by many (mostly Ferrari fans) to be always 1 step away from quitting F1 if they didnt get results. When you hear Sergio talk about taking a gamble that might or might not work out, and then talk about F1 performance not been allowed to tarnish the brand, then when you consider his modus operandi in stripping sentiment and waste from companies and getting them earning their keep.....

then its not rocket science to get what he is saying, if the lack of success continues then the best time to get rid would be as soon as possible while the brand is still 'mythical' and not reality based. If he doesnt see a turnaround quickly enough then why would he want to keep it near wholly owned when the cash trapped in the brand could be realised and the money used for a proper car company with sustainable long term revenue projections once turned around. And they would still have their high end product in Maserati thats making at least as nmuch profit as ferrari for Fiat but without the ridiculous over inflated trapped cash amount in its brand

The tifosi need to realise that Ferrari could be owned by a Chinese company soon, or could branch out into making handbags or hairdressing products and save a fortune for the new owner by not wasting money in F1

It now becomes clearer why a smart forward looking schemer like Alonso would leave Ferrari without a gig in place.

Seems the 2015 Ferrari might be 2 seconds slower than this years car - and no reg changes etc to blame. If true it would explain why MnM is desperate for an unfreeze because a whole year of car development with a low power heavy engine would be futile starting 2 secs behind

Or maybe they reintroduced their satellite sandbagging system, but then it could be worse than 2 secs :yikes:

Stiamo parlando non della vettura reale, ovviamente, perché ancora non è stata costruita e montata, ma dei primi riscontri ricavati dalla galleria del vento sul modellino scala 60% che raffigura la nuova monoposto.

And what about potential gains in the engine department?

A rumor that is to Autosprint from reliable sources casts a disturbing premise on the new Ferrari 666 (code-named Project of the F1 2015 ). From the early feedback on the model tested in the wind tunnel before and after the simulator shows that the Ferrari next year proved to be yet slower than the current model .

This news comes from an article published in the same name Autosprint 42 on newsstands Tuesday, October 21 that addresses the topic in more detail.

We're not talking about the real car, of course, because it has not yet been built and installed, but the first results obtained from the wind tunnel on the 60% scale model that depicts the new car. Findings that were then transferred to the simulator where the car proved virtually, was slower than the current F14 T .

We can assume that the comparison has been made mainly on the aero plane simulator because the model certainly can not have the technical improvements in the study phase on the turbo engine and electrical components . Of course the news is not comforting. It confirms the rumors last month about whether to Alonso (and then also to Vettel ) had been informally told not to expect a significant change in competitiveness in 2015 , which would have also influenced his decision to give up the contract already signed with Maranello .

The Ferrari 2015 of which we speak is the first true single-seater Ferrari born born under the technical direction of James Allison (the design of the frame is always Tombazis ). For now it is summarily identified by the initials "666" : this is the code name for the project that sequentially follows the construction of F1 over the years while the final name will be established only in January on the occasion of the official launch .

If the chassis is 2 seconds slower already, and even if the engine gains a full 60% on the existing deficit to the Merc, assuming Merc dont improve for 2015 ( ) then they will be still slower than they are this year relatively

At least they have Seb, he has to be worth an extra 2.6 secs per lap - shirley

I keep saying it, but how long until it actually does happen? Ferrari will be pushing to bring blown diffusers back PDQ. After all they've got the boy wonder of blown diffusers under contract. What could go wrong?

It does make more sense to concentrate on bringing the off throttle exhaust blowing back than to bother trying to change the engine freeze rules. Because the last thing they will need is to improve their fuel consumption when they will need to use 20% more fuel to keep Seb from losing the back end through corners

Oh dear, I am not sure Ferrari have really though this through or even bothered with a calculator

I mean who pays a driver 50mill a year when that drivers only real achievement came from the ability to use extra fuel in corners, when your weakness is a thirsty engine :scratchchin:
