I remember discussing the idea of doing a fast few corners and the easing off so the splits where poor. What is this about ms intervals?

No this was way beyond that, it was suggested that there was different timing points used so you could go from a non standard point in one sector to another non standard point in another sector. In other words just move the official sector points so you'd be timing your own flavor of the circuit and therefore not reveal your true times.

Yeah I remember someone posting the details and explaining it on here. Obviously shrouded in secrecy, so we didn't know the details but joined the speculation. The impression I formed was that it would be space or satellite based as the FIA surely wouldn't allow teams to setup their own measuring posts etc round the circuit and it would have to be accurate down to ms for obvious reasons and would have to be sampled from at least 3 different points to allow it to do what was bring claimed.

All to keep other teams from finding out how much faster the F1AT was - dunno where it all came from but the posts are in the thread and it all sounded like overkill

It is a high tech version of Prost GP's let's only do quali runs in preseason testing to grab headlines and some sponsorship or we will go bust.

A high tech comedic take on Prost gp maybe. prost GP were sending the car out on fumes to make it appear faster than it really was, and Ferrari were apparently sending the car out with a fancy space based telemetry system to make it appear slower than it really was, but then it turned out to be as slow as it appeared so they didnt need the system anyway :scratchchin:

All a bit confusing, is it better to appear faster than you are or is it better to be faster than you appear, maybe like with the slipstreaming in quali for Alonso by Massa, Ferrari got a bit confused with the process and ended up appearing as slow as they really were. I am sure the Ferrari fans can shed a light on this innovative system

As I've readily admitted before, I am not technically/mechanically inclined;
but, I do recognize sarcasm, condescension and patronizing tones.

So, if you're all finished kicking Ferrari when they're down, just because
you're supporting a winning team, maybe you can stop the pretension!

Thanks in advance! :wavey:

Dont be modest Sagi, you have been around long enough!!

Its not really hard once you do some research http://scarbsf1.com/blog1/category/2014-rules/ is a good source tho since he was snatched by Ac a bit quiet

And you dont have any problem discussing the details of the engine development freeze and the difference between this years freeze and the freeze we had for the last decade. You had some ideas about how Ferrari were caught unprepared by the 2014 regs unlike Merc. Red Bull Renault were even less prepared at the start of the season and seem to have become the second best team since. What do you think of the innovations on the F1At if you think we are wrong to be sceptical?

What does it mean if Pat Fry was indeed let go? He started there not too long ago, 2010 was it? So he's been involved with every Ferrari car Alonso has sat in. If it's indeed the case that he's been let go, then Ferrari's 2015 season will be one to watch as they'd surely be re-examining everything he's been involved with as far as direction. It's still not too later for big rethinks of next year's car... eager to see how this rumor unfolds.

Any idea whose decided to invite Fry to Ferrari, considering he was looking for a less intense job
(according to James Allen) than alternating the design job at McLaren?

(Tried google, to no avail!!)

Maybe he was a mole for McLaren trying to sabotage Ferrari - conspiracy!
What does it mean if he gets rehired by McLaren?

I really support Ferrari in the fact that they are not going to shut down in August....

http://www.theguardian.com/sport/2014/jul/29/marco-mattiacci-ferrari-shutdown-f1

We are not stopping thinking about how to make progress, there is no shutdown. We are about 1.2sec behind the leaders, which means months or even years of work, so we cannot allow ourselves to shut down mentally. That’s why we need to think carefully about this second place because we need to still be aware there’s a huge amount of work to be done.
