...I envy countries like UK,USA and Canada,we really have to pursue way more effort,and I think your system is more reasonable than just a few exams like we have here...

I am not a fan of exams, in all areas, to be honest. They may be necessary for some subjects/professions;
but, generally speaking, there are few jobs/professions where you can't refer to information/guidelines.

Exams are great in determining who has good recall; but, does that necessarily mean that what is being
recalled is actually understood? I think not...

Good luck to you!!

...I haven't been stressed from my parents but other relatives make it such a big deal why ffts isn't it my life you don't have to know everything...

Unfortunately, their curiousity may not be as altruistic as it may be presented!
They may subconsciously (or consciously) be comparing you and your scores/grades
with those of your cousins. Although "natural", it can definitely be disconcerting!!

I think exams are needed for the same reason but I mean they shouldn't be done like how they do here!
Yup I realized that,even in the previous years some of them were like,look you did better than rest of your cousins now you can do waaay better than this,be in top 100 in the country etc which I think is needless to say,I don't think there's a bad intention but still not an okay thing to mention.

...Wow that was long and not interesting but it's a milestone in my life :D

It was interesting, for a number of reasons. First of all, I like hearing how people feel when faced with challenges.
Secondly, here in Canada, we don't have entrance exams for colleges/university in most areas of study: admission
is usually based on marks on high school report cards, until a speciality is decided upon.

Thanks for sharing... hope it all goes well for you!! :wavey:

Ditto here in Uganda. Gotta do well in high school or A'level as we call it which determines what you'll major in at uni. Well done, Elfi!

Well the good news is that I won my class, I was the fastest 911 there and I beat the next 911 by nearly 5 seconds.

The bad news is that there were only three entries in my class, the guy I beat by nearly five seconds had only done two events, and the other guy who is competitive, didn't show up. But there's more bad news, a guy driving a plain jane Mini Cooper was five seconds faster than me. He was however 2013 SCCA National Champion in H Stock. pretty damned impressive driver.

I'm sure you did fine Elfie. Don't fret about it too much, one thing I've learnt in the last 4 years, academia means almost nothing in this world, if you're good and determined to do something then you will always achieve it, regardless of a little mark on some paper (sorry all the teachers we have on here ;) but IIRC you all teach young'uns )

Unless you're studying to be a doctor, then you might need to learn that stuff beforehand.

No I agree with you Lemon. Qualifications open doors, but it's not the only way, or always the best way to open the doors.

Exams are meant to be standardized and thereby "easy" to mark.
Personally, I hate exams and would much rather write a ten page
essay than spending hours and days memorizing facts in order to
look good on a three-hour exam and then promptly forget it all.

I'm fairly certain most relatives aren't malicious in their comparisons;
but, they really do put a lot of extra "unnecessary" pressure on us, eh?

No need to apologize, since "most" of us aren't completely sold on the system that we teach in!
But, it becomes a case of is it better to fight from within the system or to tackle it from the outside.

Today I woke up and went for a fifty minute run. I am determined to grasp my body by the scruff of its neck and whip it into shape!!! I am reaping the rewards of seven weeks of excess in France! Actually I think the scales lie! In fact I'm sure they do :yes:

Cool stuff, there's coffee break challenges in GT6 to see how many cones you can knock over too.

Yes, you need to make sure you look good for Lewis when you drape yourself across the grid at Silverstone! :twisted:
