Jenson must have become even more smooth as a driver. If he made the call to pit himself first time then that was some clever smooth driving to pretend to almost pass the pit entrance before changing his mind and calling himself in

I believe I heard Jenson say that he made the call, on the first one anyway.
If he made that call then that's three places he gained by it, it was an excellent call. But the fact remains that five places were made up on pitstops, two through other drivers retirements and one from a DQ, not through overtaking on the track.

You can't compare him to Alonso, his car isn't as good as the McLaren at this point in time. But I seem to remember Alonso getting feisty at times in the race and he beat his team mate quite convincingly in both quali and race.

No, that according to you the fact remains that five places were made up on pitstops, two through other drivers retirements and one from a DQ, not through overtaking on the track.

I actually think that the Jenson haters just cannot give the guy a break. In an unknown situation he took the car to 4th place, props to him. Well done Jens

I think the most experienced driver on the grid did a fine job, finishing close behind his teammate who's never raced in F1 before.

Who qualified how many places in front of button who was held up due to yellow flags.

Yes like I said it was a great drive.

The rookie was faster through the whole race and quali. And Jenson was stuck behind slower cars. He drove a great race to pass 5 cars through the team pit strategy. He even got on to the podium without being on track at all. Another textbook journey from midgrid in the second fastest car. I bet Ron was beaming a 15 mill Euro smile at that

You need some serious intelligence and race craft to find your way through to the podium from midgrid. Jenson's proved this time and time again, his superior intellect through all the years in F1 does pay some dividend in the end. If the yellows weren't there in Q3 he might've challenged Lewis for pole.

If Button could actually qualify regularly then I'm sure he'd be on the podium far more, his race pace is often very very quick but his one lap is lacking.

Like a reverse Trulli.

Yes I agree. His racecraft is so superior that even after the driver briefing that explained exactly how many metres under the yellow you had to slightly lift, that his vast experience overrode the instructions and worked out that the rules were not adequate protection for the marshalls and so he lifted more than the others who got investigated and cleared.
And his brash inexperienced teammate was dumb enough to lift for just the right amount at the right place to avoid penalty on the way to improving his time and ultimately knocking his team leader out of Q1
Jenson out qualified Lewis once before in Spa on sheer talent and skill, I am sure he could have got pole this time if he wasnt such a big thinker

My thoughts exactly. He's probably the fastest driver out there right now (seeing how many times he's charged through the field) but he's been extremely unlucky in almost all the qualifying sessions he's taken part in. Partly the fault of the engineers, team bosses, but if I had to take an educated guess, I'd say the Wind God has an agenda against Button....it's like the direction and speed of the wind changes only around Button's car.

By right if he didnt have this curse on his shoulders, he should be at least a 4x WDC right now.

The one thing no one can ever take from Button is his success at surviving in a tough tough meritocracy. I canot believe there are any drivers at all who having being sacked twice in 2 years for not performing at the start of their careers, replaced by a talent like Alonso, yet are still here 15 years later finishing a race ahead of some seriously talented WDCs. All he has to do is beat his talented rookie teammate to be hailed as the best of this generation

The places were made up in the way I described. That's fact. That you don't like the facts is your problem not mine.
I praised him for bringing home the points, I said it was a big well done. I believe you deliberately look for argument.
#395560
@Cookin I don't see why not, if you watched the 2009 season and saw the sheer skill at the wheel (making Vettel's 2013 look amateur) to win the WDC and how he smashed Lewis to pieces during their partnership (outscoring him over the 3 years), not to mention his tenacity in holding off a stupid pretender like Perez last year.... I mean how much talent can 1 guy have. It's a privilege to watch this guy perform on, and particularly off track.

@Racechick, I dont think anyone who still cant find out how to quote a post properly would know if they did find an argument
