WILLIAMS CAUSED A RED FLAG, ON THE LAST DAY WITH 3 HOURS TO GO!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Their car broke on the start straight and just stopped by the pit exit and was then pushed back in, so still Williams have never had to have their car put on a truck to be brought back.

Williams confirm they suffered an engine failure on their high mileage unit.

Spanks will be mighty relieved. Alonso on ss smashes into the 34s,only Wiiliams and Merc have done this, so the scuderia are gonna be players in Aus

Thanks mate

But I'm fairly certain Mercedes will be masters of the one-lap performances. Very neat thing to have.

I did make it 3 Mercedes ICE failures today, plus Mercedes had one yesterday morning. I believe Mercedes said that ICE was 3200Klms which is exactly on 5 races. Don't know the mileages on the other failures and I guess none of us know how hard they were pushing those ICE's.

Really nice to see the extreme number of laps the Sauber did today and great to see Max slam in a 1.36er to be ahead of the Red Bull. Not often Marussia can do that :hehe:

Everyone's still had problems up till the last day, it's going to be hectic and a real thrill to see who makes the chequered flag in Melbourne...for the first time in a long long time we're gonna have people cheering over cars crossing the line rather than WHEN they cross it! :D

I think the key to reliability is to look at the failures at the first test not the last. Because at the last the teams suddenly suffering increasing failures are bound to be pushng beyond their limits. It's those with failures at the same rate we should worry about. RBR haven't a chance in hell of completing the race anywhere except the back.
Strange day for McLaren though, how can they have slipped behind Williams and FI unless the first test was pure show boating
Also if Merc were a couple secs ahead of their customers, they would surely not want to confirm that till the season starts which I believe could be the case
I think the Merc and Ferrari cars will largely be ok as far as completing the races bar bad luck

We'll find out in Melbourne, remember that is a completely different type of track.

Lewis did his time on softs so we are looking at another 0.7 sec on ss

I think I read elsewhere that Williams knew it was going to blow but it was because the engine was at the end of its life. If so nothing to worry about at all.

Tyre usage data from Pirelli

Confirms Lewis' fastest lap done on used softs, Bo77as 0.7 slower on new softs
Yesterday Rosberg and Massa's fastest laps both on new super softs,

Super softs are 0.7 faster than softs.

this is pretty spectacular info and may explain why Lewis aborted his flying lap on supersofts after being fastest of all in the first sector. Chances are if extrapolated the lap time could even have been sub 132 :yikes:

Merc may be hiding a 2 sec car
