I like Ant Hamilton & I admire him for all the work he put into getting Lewis into racing.
I'm not a fan of PDResta.....IMHO ...he seems a dour, whinging, second rate type, who dumped A.Hamilton, for JensonButton's management team...hoping to get the F1 seat... that eventually went to Sergio Perez....
Another viewpoint http://www.gpupdate.net/en/f1-news/3064 ... l-dispute/

I agree with all that. Also agree that I have great respect and admiration for what both J. button and A. Hamilton did for their sons.

:gonnagetit: Hey, is Keke Rosberg chopped liver?

Hey..I think Keke is ACE... 8-)
I saw an interview...last year, may have been after Nico R Monaco win. NR was asked if his dad gave him racing advice....he said (not verbatim) He told me what to look out for when the track was drying out...If I was on inters, to keep to the darker bits...I already knew that...
The point really with the racing dads...especialy Ant Hamilton, was the commitment & sacrifice & money scraped up to get them through Karting to the lower formulas...immense respect for these guys.....I liked John Button, a 'life well lived' he supported Jenson...great dad...

 Kiki had the money, know how and connections to support Nico in everything he did, so the support was different to that given by Ant and John, but no less valid. Ant and John ( I think Ant in particular because he had less initially) put their livelihoods on the line to support the talent they saw in their sons. For Keke.... Who had the know how and wherewithall to give Nico whatever he wanted, it was more a case of pointing things in the right direction but then standing back and letting Nico find the drive( metaphorically speaking)himself.......and that can be a very hard thing to do. All three dads did their sons proud.

I am not sure about the levels of sacrifice being similar. John Button was a former racing driver who owned a karting business profitably supplying karts. This allowed Jenson the access to the all important karting series without a strain on his parents. Ant had to work 2 jobs to be able to buy karts form John Button for Lewis.

Big big difference

Yes. That's why I bracketed Ant's sacrifice was particularly great. He came from completely no money, no experience, no connections and put everything on the line for his son.

The similarity, is that each father, with the resources and experiences they had did all they could to help their respective sons.

What I like about John Button most is that he is on record as saying in the early days that he didnt think Jenson had enough talent to make it in racing, yet still backed his son the whole way

I actually meant how many people start in karts and never make it to pro level.
