You dont want your A driver to be on track when all the little issues that appear on a first ever track shakedown - things like tyre pressures, suspension tweaks, cooling thresholds, seatbelts too tight, mirrors etc etc

All the little things that always crop up the first time a car hits the track (unless ofcourse you already had some kind of shakedown on a private test track with the car disguised as a sportscar)

Things like cooling will not be helped by running it in a sports car. I would imagine it would only be good for making sure the engine and energy systems work.

Formula One's new crop of cars will look like something out of a science fiction horror movie with front ends that are the stuff of nightmares, according to Caterham principal Cyril Abiteboul.

That seems to be coming apparent, although it's the quality of racing that matters in the end.

I like how there Is more than one train of thought with these cars. It is going to be interesting who has got it right and who has got it wrong.

How many engineers in opposing teams have said "poo, wish we had thought of that" so far"

Can't wait,

and if Kimi is the No2 driver, its a very strong team :P

And its great the cars are actually looking different this year, I wonder if the grid will have some big differences in performance.

Nico will have found the gremlins on the promo run

But it doesn't mean he's a #2. Teams like Red Bull, Ferrari and Mercedes would be foolish to make such a designation .... right.

Redbull and Ferrari have had no problems doing it for the past few years.

Granted!! Let's remember two things:
* neither had two fairly equal drivers, as proven before midway in the season.
* Ferrari has always been upfront with their team orders, even at the risk of a penalty!
