When Lewis was considering Merc, Ron Dennis flew in his private jet to meet dieter Zetsche, chief exec of parent company Daimler where he presented Hamilton in unflattering light. (He brought up that story from the sun which reported Lewis in a hotel room partying) Whitmarsh only found out about this when Zetsche phoned people close to the Lewis Merc deal. It is thought Dennis was trying to put Merc off but top McLaren management believe Dennis didnt help their attempts to keep hold of Hamilton.

Dennis says this is all a storm in a teacup, but the fact remains that Lewis was upset about something Dennis did and they didn't speak for months. At the time Lewis was at lengths to say he had a good relationship with Martin.


I personally am now wondering if the person Lewis refers to as out to do him harm might be Dennis? Or is if like Dennis says a storm in a teacup?

Now THIS makes a lot more sense...the guy Lewis keeps referring to "out to do him harm and affecting his season on a personal level".....Dennis is very fitting, way more fitting in this category than Button. I'd buy that it was Dennis who made matters worse than it should've been when he heard of Hamilton considering his options.

I never did like the "Machiavellian" type relationship that Dennis seemed to have with Hamilton!!
It gave me the creeps to see the "personal" pride Dennis seemed to take in whatever Hamilton did
accomplish, almost as though he were reliving his own life vicariously.

By the way, it's not too much of a leap of faith to make the connection between what we were told
and/or saw in the media about Alonso/Hamilton and what really went on behind closed doors!!

Well what we saw on track was that in the first race of 2007 the ookie Lewis overtook the reigning WDC Alonso on the first corner and went on to challenge him in every quali and race.
Then we heard that behind closed doors Alonso tried to blackmail his boss into making the rookie his number 2 driver

Later in the season Lewis ofcourse went on to beat Alonso to second place and I am sure that would have indeed made Ron proud. If Ron had not been forced to leave the team who knows how it would have ended up. Maybe his protege Lewis would not have had a weaker driver installed in the team, and maybe he would not have wanted to leave for Merc

Team mates like Lewis and Rosberg do well generaly. I think they have the best driver line up, they like each other and contribute 50% each in the points. Next year with a car more suited to Hamilton, will we see Rosberg being the number two.

Fair enough. I kindov think that the strategies the team put the drivers on tells you a heck of a lot about how they go racing, where the support lies and what is expected. But maybe that's just to trick the viewing public.

What's up with Hamilton and Brazil? He loses a potential ground/record breaking WDC in his first year, almost loses it again through sh*t sh*t luck only to scrape through the bad mojos of the circuit, his best result of 3rd comes in 2009, and then last year loses a win thanks to the boneheaded-ness of a highly rated driver out there, and picks up his first (unearned) penalty for Mercedes and collision (through racing incident) this year when he had the chance to chase for a podium.

Man, I ain't picking Hamilton for a top 3 spot ever in Brazil in the prediction pool.

I think he'd given up hope for a podium this race after yesterday. Because of the lack of rain he should have been fourth but alas, the stewards in Brazil don't take to kindly to him. That was the most bullshit drive through handed down all season. A lapped car to boot, WTF was Bottas thinking? Can I take my rookie of the year vote back?

Hamilton could have finished 3rd in the standings, but no, he hasn't finished in the top 3 in the standings since 2008.

Reality check: It's not like the stewards in Brazil were any kinder to their homegrown hero Massa!!
You want to talk about penalties??

NEITHER Hamilton NOR Massa should have had those penalties, especially in the last race of the year!!
