I had never thought of the weights being able to move left or right of center line. It makes sence just never occurred to me

Corner balancing. Weight at one corner of a car affects the diagonally opposite corner so you can exploit it on some circuits. Most of the time you want as close to neutral as possible but for some tracks, in NASCAR fir example that turns only left they really exploit that with both corner balance and alignment.

I suppose as the only real oval racing around here is banger racing and I think popping a few kgs on one side of the car is the least of their concerns

When Kimi does it they make t-shirts... Go figure.

That's because Kimi is... well, Kimi!! :D

But, seriously? NOT to offend or detract from Hamilton; but, is it possible that thanks to all the media "hoopla"
and all the "controversies" at/with McLaren since his debut season have truly polarized fans in a way that "only"
Schumi has done before him.

Until recently, even Vettel has been able to do that, in spite of his own "controversies"!

p.s. please note that I have effectively put Hamilton in the same category as my own favourite!! :wavey:

Because Kimi has a different character. Kimi's Feck work lets party appeals to the masses.

I'm reading a book called The Wizard's First Rule. Guess what the first rule is? People are idiots that will believe what they want to believe.

This is the Mail, so take from it what you will.........

When Lewis was considering Merc, Ron Dennis flew in his private jet to meet dieter Zetsche, chief exec of parent company Daimler where he presented Hamilton in unflattering light. (He brought up that story from the sun which reported Lewis in a hotel room partying) Whitmarsh only found out about this when Zetsche phoned people close to the Lewis Merc deal. It is thought Dennis was trying to put Merc off but top McLaren management believe Dennis didnt help their attempts to keep hold of Hamilton.

Dennis says this is all a storm in a teacup, but the fact remains that Lewis was upset about something Dennis did and they didn't speak for months. At the time Lewis was at lengths to say he had a good relationship with Martin.

I personally am now wondering if the person Lewis refers to as out to do him harm might be Dennis? Or is if like Dennis says a storm in a teacup?

Makes sense, at last the 5th man reveals himself.

Ron was his mentor and Ron crossed the line by trying to keep him as his boy, at a time the man was emerging. And we know Ron has become almost childish before when drivers try to leave. 'no driver has left McLaren' etc

How ironic if it turns out Whitmarsh is actually the only competence left at the team :yikes:

Competent may be a step too far, but I don't think Martin would willfully be spiteful. Lewis has always spoken fondly of Martin, so whatever I think of him and his apparent penchant for button, Lewis was close to him whereas he clearly had a big issue with Dennis around the time he moved.
