Has Grojean made a big mistake this year?

He had a messy weekend at Monaco, but other than that he has been solid - had the little misjudgement with Button at Hungary but other than that has driven well, even when his "team mate" shoved him off the road.

If I was RG, I think i'd want Maldonado over Hulkenburg. Reasoning behind this is I think Grosjean would beat Maldonado, however, I think Hulkenburg would be a lot tougher to beat

Hulkenberg for a team with financial support is the obvious choice, but thats whart lotus are not, they need the money. Do you think however that maybe now that Perez is a contender. In the eyes of Lotus, I would take Perez.

For next season, i would love to see the following happen (unconfirmed ones in bold):

Red Bull - Vettel/Ricciardo
Ferrari - Alonso/Kimi
Mercedes - Hamilton/Rosberg
Lotus - Grosjean/Hulkenburg
McLaren - Button/Magnussen
Force India - Di Resta/Sutil
Sauber - Perez/Gutierrez
Williams - Massa/Bottas
Toro Rosso - Vergne/Kvyat
Marussia - Bianchi/Vandoorme
Caterham - Pic/Kovalainen

What i think will happen:

Red Bull - Vettel/Ricciardo
Ferrari - Alonso/Kimi
Mercedes - Hamilton/Rosberg
Lotus - Grosjean/Maldonado
McLaren - Button/Magnussen
Force India - Perez/ Sutil - https://twitter.com/Sky_Tanja/status/401091673109065728
Sauber - Hulkenburg (If he was going to Lotus next season he would have moved to them for the last 2 races I think)/Gutierrez
Williams - Massa/Bottas
Toro Rosso - Vergne/Kvyat
Marussia - Bianchi/Vandoorme
Caterham - Pic/Kovalainen

Sadly I see no space for Di Resta with the breaking news about Sutil, may have to take up a test driver role somewhere!

I think Sauber have that Russian guy lined up, Sergey Sirotkin. I think he's cashed up or has lots of backing, all he needs is a super license but not sure if he has it yet.

So who knows what Sauber are doing in terms of drivers.

No. That guys backing has fallen through and I believe that deal is off.

Well that helps the chances for Gutierrez then to retain his drive.

I would be bummed to see diresta left out.

No cash and mediocre talent. In today's F1, this won't last long. Maybe in the 90s and early 2000s he would've got another contract by now.

Since 2010 it's either:

Cash, mediocre talent
Cash, great talent
No cash, great talent (aka Hulkenburg)

...can stay in F1. It's an obvious matrix now, the state of F1.

You can nearly add "cash, no talent" sometimes.

Di resta has frequently out qualified and out raced sutil all year. So why they'd keep him and not Paul seems bewildering to me.

Couple things I can think of, Sutil may have a better attitude in the team, and he's also seen the lion's share of mechanical DNFs.
