Whitmarsh has had four years hasn't he? I can't believe he went on holiday for his first race as TP ...and turned his phone off!!

that is not true, He was at Melbourne, i saw him there myself.

Well I must admit I found that unbelievable. I seem to remember I thought I hear his voice on he radio as well during the overtaking Trulli fuss. Someone's got the wrong end of the stick then.

He must have been there for the race but probably scarpered straight after, switched his phone off and left Ryan to face the music. I remember thinking it odd that it was the sporting director who was most senior around and took the blame
So it seemed then that it was planned that way, now sounds like it was just a lame duck switching his phone off to avoid responsibility

edit: in fact thats what the article does say, but worded to sensationalise some more
Whitmarsh, 55, has not won a world title since taking over from Dennis at the beginning of 2009. He made a terrible start by being away on holiday with his telephone switched off following his first race in charge as the furore over Lewis Hamilton misleading the stewards blew up.

You are right, I missed it the first time. Yes that makes sense. I realise the dailies sensationalise and twist thinks but I didn't think they'd outright lie.

Ugghhh Daily Mail blah blah blah

They'll probably blame illegal imigrants, homosexuals and pregnant teens and then conclude by wishing Diana was still here to save us all.

 True :hehe:

That makes more sense but it would have been a short Holiday as the Malaysian GP was the next weekend.

So, now RBR/Ferrari are done, can we start to speculate about these guys line up next year ?

Do we all think they will stick with Button / Perez line up?

Has Button done enough as a lead driver? Has Perez shown the consistency needed for a junior driver?

Could Massa be a possibility?

Or will it be boring, and remain as is....?

LRW - "Do we all think they will stick with Button / Perez line up?" - Andrew - "Yes"
LRW - "Or will it be boring, and remain as is....?"- Andrew - "Doubt it"

I'll stop being lazy and do it the proper way as I should have done in the first place. :hehe:

Perez has 1 more year on his contract doesn't he?? I know that Jenson's contract runs out this season but i think he will stay at Mclaren as well. So for me, i think Mclaren well be unchanged.

Oh, does he? I, for some reason, thought he was only on a 1 year deal. My mistake.

I've been confused over this, I thought they were were both out of contract, but when I looked it up Perez is contracted...if the source was correct. I doubt he's paid a packet though, if they didnt want him, they could pay him but not race him.

Perez will race if Carlos Slim wants him to race. There's a GP of Mexico City on the calendar next year is there not? The McLaren can very well be sporting Telmex sidepods soon.

Which is a very good reason for keeping Perez, who is in contracted anyway. And contrary to the opinions
of some, I don't think he's done too bad. He's no team leader......yet, but given the chance, he can race. McLaren are lacking a team leader, who knows how to win and can drag the car along when things aren't perfect.........but Whitmarsh, I don't think, will go out looking for a driver like that........or will he? Why hasn't he confirmed Button? Is he being pressured to take the Hulk? McLaren wanted the Hulk when Whitmarsh over rode them and took Perez. Oh how interesting and fascinating is all this!!

I don't know what is best for McLaren at the moment, other than a better car..... Hopefully this will come to fruition next season.
