In Italian it's "La Rossa"!! That is, NO talk of Scarlet NOR of Crimson. Simply "The Red One"!!

You may be right; unfortunately, NOT all programs are created equally when it comes to the colour spectrums they offer!!

After watching the recent Belgian GP and the Italian one yesterday, I am beginning to feel that a lot of people are being unfair to Vettel simply because of the Newey factor. Especially in comparing him with Alonso and Hamilton.

In 2009, his first year with Red Bull, Vettel did very well to win 4 races and keep Button honest till the end. The Brawns seemed unbeatable at the start of the season and the still competitive Ferraris were driven by Massa and Raikkonen.

in 2010, the Mclarens were the fastest cars in a lot of tracks and Alonso in the Ferrari was no slowpoke. The Red Bull was equally good and Vettel did well to win with such stiff competition, considering the heart-breaking DNF while leading at the crucial Korean GP.

The RB7 in 2011 was unquestionably the dominant car of the field and the results reflected it.

In 2012 the McLarens were unquestionably the fastest cars but suffered from reliability issues. The RB7 was comparatively mediocre to start with and even though it improved in the second half od the season, Red Bull too had reliability issues, though admittedly less than McLaren. The Ferrari was not as quick as the other two but had its bulletproof reliability through the season and was good enough to notch up a few wins and several podium finishes, which resulted in Alonso taking Vettel to the wire. While the Spaniard did a great job, he was not stuck with a dog of a car like some people tried to make out.

The 2013 Ferrari not only continues to be reliable, but is at least as fast as the RB9. In almost every race Alonso has been able to match Vettel for pace and in Belgium and Italy maintained the distance once he reached P2 (In fact, he was closing on Vettel at Monza). Looking at it one way, the reason Alonso has not so far won as many races/points as Vettel in 2013 is not because his car is in any way inferior but Alonso's failure to qualify well. For some obscure reason he seems unable to transfer his racing skills into qualifying and is often outqualified by Massa. Then during the race, by the time Alonso has shrugged off those in front of him and reached P2, Vettel naturally would have pulled out of reach. If anything, that is a chink in Alonso's armour and it is unfair to take credit away from Vettel for it.

Look at how well Vettel drove before he was at Red Bull. It was clear right from the moment he stepped into an F1 car that he was something special. Instead of congratulating someone for doing something well and enjoying seeing someone at the top of their game, folks find it easier to hate.

No one is saying Seb is not special, or one of the top 3 drivers. Lewis and Alonso would have better results in that car as they are more adaptable and have better race craft. Seb is probably faster than Alonso, but Alonso has better racecraft and racing brain. lewis is faster that Seb and has better racecraft and is more resilient to setbacks.

Also the true measure of a driver is against his teammate. Seb is better than Webber, more effective and consistent. However over one lap he is not that much faster than Webber like the results suggest.
Seb seems so much faster and better than Webber because he is favoured at Red Bull, the car is designed for his comfort zone and not for Marks. So Seb looks so brilliant because of how well he does against his teammate not how well he does against Alonso and Lewis because its obvious to anyone with balanced hormones that his car/team/Newey is overall head and shoulders better than the rest and has been since 2009.

If the car wasnt built around Seb, (and if Webber didnt suffer so many mysterious issues, that keep him away from Seb on track) he would be a lot closer in results to Webber, and both would be clear of all the other drivers.

Just like Button and Reubens in the first half of 2009.

And this is why Seb gets booed a lot, everyone knows his car gives him a big advantage and everyone also knows that the difference to Webber is induced by the teams favouritism.

And there you have it, people! Vettel will always be compared to Hamilton, because they are contemporaries, more so than Alonso.
Each represents one of the major teams of the time and each will be remembered for their successes/lack thereof at their respective team.

Ferrari fans will question Vettel's ability/success because we compare him to our own Alonso.
McLaren fans will question Vettel's ability/success because they compare him to their own favourite, Hamilton.
Neither of us will voluntarily give Vettel his due because that would feel a ""teeny weeny bit"" disloyal to our guy!!
