Well, well, well. The title in the daily mail on F1 is ' Mclaren meltdown' ok it's the daily mail and they want a sensational headline. But I am open mouthed if some of the things they've said come anywhere close to true!

Several members of the team told sportsmail that they are dissatisfied . Some perceive him too casual about failure. One person( who asked to remain anonymous) said "he simply doesn't seem to care enough"

Ron has privately expressed his frustration with Whitmarsh to fellow board members, but his own position on the board is weakened after a falling out with Mansour Ojjeh ( tag holdings)

On Whitmarsh' first race in control of the team, the race where Lewis was told to lie to the stewards. HE WAS AWAY ON HOLIDAY WITH HIS PHONE SWITCHED OFF. :yikes::yikes::yikes: if that's true that just beggars belief!!

He overruled a consensus to take Hulkenberg as Lewis replacement. :yikes:

He has brownies points for the Honda deal ............and he feels his position is secure. Hmmmmmmm

I think it's too soon to start pointing fingers. The ship hasn't sunk yet, they are competitive to an extent. Clearly now they are faster than force india, and Button, I think can reel in Massa nad Grosjean in the points. They should be fine next season.

Too soon to start pointing fingers

Last year after Silverstone Whitmarsh had a tearful 'mea culpa' and said it wasnt good enough and that they would improve etc etc

now a year later, when they got much worse, and evidence is coming out confirming what observant McLaren watchers have been saying for years, when the next couple years are going to require the highest competence so far, you are still saying its too soon to think about changes?

The ship hasnt sunk yet? is it easier to restore a sunken wreck than a floating disaster?

This is why the team is in such a state, nostalgic and blind supporters, media, stakeholders and fans who have all lost sight of what the team stood for all those years and are happy with mediocrity 'oh its not too bad, we are faster than Force India' :yikes:

Next we will have the real idiot fans turn up to protest about conspiracy theories and witch hunts and start screaming at everyone that 'NOTHINGS WRONG AT MCLAREN'

Apart from Ron who is a victim in all this, what a bunch of certified losers

That is the most damning bit for Whitmarsh. Perez was not about sponsorship, he actually overruled a consensus to take the best available driver?
The reason is clear, once again his giddyness around Button. Changing the suspension to help a lame duck and then bringing in a teammate that he must have requested
He should be sacked for a mistake of that magnitude, when you overrule a committee decision at a team who are all about a matrix then there is no longer any excuse for failure

Well I must admit I found that unbelievable. I seem to remember I thought I hear his voice on he radio as well during the overtaking Trulli fuss. Someone's got the wrong end of the stick then.

The Daily Mail always find themselves grasping at the wrong end of the stick. Tarred with the same brush as the Sun. Pot-stirring, right-wing supporting, idiotic nonsense.

No big deal. He should be thrashing Button in qualifying and at least doing what he did in Bahrain more often to be considered a future star, but he isn't. I think he was a false alarm last year...not a future star, maybe a Massa. Fast and erratic at times but not really special in any way.

He must have been there for the race but probably scarpered straight after, switched his phone off and left Ryan to face the music. I remember thinking it odd that it was the sporting director who was most senior around and took the blame
So it seemed then that it was planned that way, now sounds like it was just a lame duck switching his phone off to avoid responsibility

edit: in fact thats what the article does say, but worded to sensationalise some more
Whitmarsh, 55, has not won a world title since taking over from Dennis at the beginning of 2009. He made a terrible start by being away on holiday with his telephone switched off following his first race in charge as the furore over Lewis Hamilton misleading the stewards blew up.

They'll probably blame illegal imigrants, homosexuals and pregnant teens and then conclude by wishing Diana was still here to save us all.
