I think there's a lot of romanticism going on here, both on the part of Ferrari fans and Kimi fans. It's like getting back together with a girlfriend and then realizing why you broke up in the first place.

So IMO now that Red Bull has pushed the reject button, there's little for Kimi as far as options. He's better off at Lotus because they will continue to build a team around him... but can they pay him? Ferrari is better off without him because to take him back would be to admit they made a mistake.... yeah, like the Scuderia is ever going to admit to that.

I know it's a badge of honor to say you've sent the greatest drivers in the sport packing but the sport is different today, and Kimi will not bring as much money or talent to the team as they have now with Alonso. So to hire him (and as is being suggested jettison Alonso) would be a cutting their nose to spite their face sort of deal. So no matter what Ferrari do they wind up in a weaker position as a team. It just doesn't make sense, but passion and sense are often mutually exclusive.

...Thanks, @Sagi58, for the welcome, though I hardly see any time available recently. Studio preparation on full steam.

Don't forget to keep us in the loop with all your appearances and great interviews/information!! :wavey:

Let's not forget about that little concept called change, and how important it is. Ferrari has grown, and as is not the same now as the Ferrari of 2009. Kimi has grown too, and is not the same Kimi as 2009. These two factors alone mean that you can't use that 2009 situation and claim that it won't work now. The situations now are dramatically different.

Ferrari has grown? How do you figure that...they just seem the same to me, albeit less efficient and potent compared to before.

And Kimi has only become ruder since his comeback into F1, so I don't know how you figure he's 'grown' either.

While it would be lovely to have Kimi back at Ferrari, there are 2 reasons why I dont think it will happen.

1) Luca Di Montezemelo I expect has the final say, and apparently he doesnt want Kimi back.

2) I doubt, given the choice Alonso would want Kimi rather than Massa or a younger driver such as Di Resta/Hulkenburg.

I'm sorry for the late response to this comment; but, are you sure you don't mean Hamilton's lot of romanticism, considering how many times he has split up with Nicole and considering all the tweet-tweeting/dedicating that we've been privy to?? :fairy:

I watch the BBC feed alot, so I am well aware of him, and his old formula 1 team ownership, but this should be good.
