we'll use the thread throughout the off season. So a list with the teams and confirmed names would certainly be useful. In my opinion the only team that's cemented as of now is Mercedes.

Mercedes; Lewis Hamilton, Nico Rosberg. Reserves

For me the only certainties are;

Mercedes AMG - Hamilton/Rosberg
Red Bull Racing - Vettel/
Sauber - Sirotkin/

Every other seat could be in play if Alonso makes himself available, say he has a get out clause dependent on team performance

I'd be shocked if he has. Also Button/Perez are contracted until the end of 2015.

My predictions are:

Red Bull - Vettel/ Riccarido
Ferrari - Alonso/Massa (Can see Hulkenburg going to Ferrari as Reserve driver, to put pressure on Massa).
Mercedes - Hamilton/Rosberg
Lotus - Raikkonen/ Di Resta
McLaren - Button/Perez
Force India - Bianchi/ Sutil
Sauber - Sirotkin/Gutierrez
Toro Rosso - Vergne/ Da Costa
Williams - Maldonado/Bottas
Caterham - Kovalainen/ Van Der Gaarde
Marussia - Chilton/Magnussen (McLaren might pay for his seat).

Button/Perez are contracted but contracts can be broken, deals made, drivers paid off. McLaren could loan Button to Marussia if Kimi found Alonso (and Satandar) taking his Lotus seat and wanted to come back. Dont see it happening but anythings possible

Also the Alonso get out clause could be in the form of 'if I havent won a WDC in 4 years I can leave type of breakclause)

Lets face it, if Alonso has any info that the Ferrari 2014 turbo will not be competitive for a year or two, then his only chance of a WDC soon would be to leave right now and take his chances with another team with a Merc or Renault lump.

Certainly, this Montezemolo/Alonso stuff is looking like the buildup to how Fernando has left every single one of his previous top teams

I wrote this elsewhere based on what has been confirmed thus far so thought I'd sahre it as it seems relevant.

So far the 2014 team line-ups are looking like this:

  • Infiniti Red Bull Renault - Sebastian Vettel & TBC
  • Scuderia Ferrari - Fernando Alonso & TBC
  • McLaren Mercedes - Jenson Button & Sergio Perez
  • Lotus F1 Team, Engine TBC - TBC & TBC
  • Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team - Nico Rosberg & Lewis Hamilton
  • Sahara Force India F1 Team, Mercedes - Paul di Resta & TBC
  • Sauber F1 Team, Engine TBC - TBC & TBC
  • Scuderia Toro Rosso, Renault - TBC & TBC
  • Williams, Mercedes - TBC & TBC
  • Caterham F1 Team, Engine TBC - Charles Pic & TBC
  • Marussia F1 Team, Ferrari - TBC & TBC

I did a whole other ramble about rumoured/potential engine and driver signings but I ain't gonna share that so there.

I like Massa, but I think his chances are running out, and Jenson gets on with Alonso, won't threaten, could be a good number two and cruise and collect until he retires. Just a thought

Massa seemed to have a strong start this year, but things look to have reverted back to how they were throughout much of 2012.
