Ultimately it boils down to being a good enough driver where you don't get kicked off teams.

I wouldn't call it dirty. It was a business agreement that was settled. Whether it was Jenson's money or Honda's is another story, but in the end by hook or crook that decision got him a WDC title.

It may have got him one with Williams. Williams might have not started their big slide had they been able to execute FW strategy of expanding and building business on the back of having the marketeable British rising star that was going to challenge MS.

Not saying that the whole Williams slide was caused by this but FW gave Button a shot, gave him a chance to displace the returning Montoya, when JB turned outto be too lazy and narcisitic FW put him on loan till Montaya who was always gonna leave did.

But at that stage JB decided that Williams didnt have as much money as BAR and left FW high and dry when he needed a marketing friendly and potentially star driver

Yeah then he had the nerve to take FW to court with big money backing from his new friends

then spent the next decade counting his money at the back of the grid till he got undeservedly lucky

Or when Frank kicked Button out of the team because he signed Montana

He had a contract to see out with Montoya who was on a year off. FW gave JB his opening to F1. No one else did. If he had done really well Montoya would have been paid off. But JB wasted the year, at a time when Williams were still a top team he was too busy buying yacths and swanning around Monaco and not doing anything on track.

Williams were in a real tight position, with BMW and sponsor leaving, FW invested in JB and was counting on a certain strategy to get new engines and sponsors, a strategy based on a bright exciting British talent that would challenge MS and atract partners in and out of F1.

Its a bit like if Lewis after Ron brought him through had turned around in 2008 and reneged on his contract because a brand new team were trying to buy their way in. (at least Lewis waited 5 years and honored his obligation :hehe: )

I am not sure why people have such short memories about JB, he almost ruined FW who was on his back foot and the team has never recovered since.

Imagine Seb turning around and trashing RBR and Matezitch personally after his first WC and causing a bad stink to move to a new team just for money. And JB had not even won a race

Actually its even more ridiculous than that because when BAR (who took him to help them build) hadnt cut a big sponsor deal Button stitched them up by running back to Williams and BAr had to sue to stop him, so he signs a contract with Williams for when the BAr one ran out. Then BAr got Honda and JB then stitches FW who had given him a route out of his BAr nightmare. Remember BMW wanted German drivers, Frank wanted British sponsors

and this was all on the back of Buttons big mouth and zero performance on track - ruined Williams, then ruined BAR, then ruined Honda and is now 'leading' McLaren

So when Mercedes gets kicked out who's picking up Lewis for the 2014 season? Isn't Webber's contract up?

I bags Lewis for Ferrari. Can you image the interest in that combination - record F1 season for sure and how about watching Lewis and Fernando going head to head under Ferrari rules. That is drool worthy.

Merc are not going anywhere whatsoever

The worst that will happen is Ross taking the blame, not Mercedes.

When crashgate happened, which is much worse, the blame was on the TP who made the decision - Flabio and Renault got off scot free

If Ross has to go then so does Charlie and Hembrey, but like WB said, the outcome wont be about justice but about logistics and balance

Not gonna happen, firstly Lewis and Alonso don't really work too well together, at all. All that would happen is they would end up clashing all the time. If Alonso was vetoing any chance of Vettel joining whilst he's at Ferrari incase he knocks hims off his perch, there's not a hope in hell he'd let Lewis in.

Edit: I used the word 'All' an awful lot here...
