Maybe call the new thread 'lets pretend'

Its a good idea, have a new Mclaren thread that ignores current affairs. Most forums (fora for the retentives) discuss current affairs as well as have specific topics. So most Mclaren threads get busy whenever new info surfaces about the team. All the known info so far has been discounted and discussed and generally generates no discussion. Whenever there is any new info, normally from a news item then discussion ensues.

Now when the latest gem is posted about and members decide to discuss it or not should have absolutely no weighting about its negativity or positivism.

If the mods of a site get loads of complaints about something they generally act. however when wannabe mods, would be community policemen, overlooked at school as prefects, and general high horse types continue to bitch about the discussion of current (if unfortunately negative) news about a team with massive support then the big question that has to be asked is a follows;

Why dont the bitches find positive news and comment on it? why trample on the rights of forum members to air their opinions about a team they know a lot about having tramped to various grand prix on different continents? Passion comes from action, not from watching on TV (in some cases not even having the gumption to watch the actual race), passion comes from knowledge and experience of the team and the highest experience is to actually travel abroad to follow the team.

So before bitching about bitching we (including my good self) need to ask our selves the following: what and why do we care? Have we ever attended a grand prix? have we ever travelled abroad so great was our passion. If so why do we care about others expressing their opinions each time new info comes out?

i.e. are we just bitches who will always find something/someone to bitch about, or are we passionate about something? are we passionate about the expression of passions by others or are we enthusiasts of a tangible sport? example are we the ones who go to a game and express passion at the on pitch action or are we the bitches who scan the crowd and express indignation at the manner others express passion? Do we have our own life or do we live our lives through the projection on others? Do we know anything or do we just turn to wiki? do we watch the race or do we look at the results?

I think we all know who we are on here and its exactly who we are in the non virtual world

Peace!

So latest Mclaren news for those interested in real life McLaren

Sam Michael talks about fans calling for sackings

Some McLaren fans have called for changes in personnel in some of the senior positions at the team, but Michael does not expect heads to roll.

"If you focus on sacking people, to start with you have to be very careful because first of all you could sack the wrong people and secondly the people who are responsible for this car are part of this company and they are committed to it," he said.

"They are very good engineers and designers who have produced very good cars in the past and they are going to be the best people to fix this car and produce another very good car in the future."

If you focus on sacking people, to start with you have to be very careful because first of all you could sack the wrong people
Dont sack me its all the engineers and designers not the managment

and secondly the people who are responsible for this car are part of this company and they are committed to it
The engineers shouldnt be sacked becos they are doing what was asked of them by management, and without them we are truly fcked

and over in the lame bitch thread - 'there is nothing wrong at McLaren, its just a bad race, they have a great history, dont think for yourself just dream of the past!'

There's a difference between so-called current affairs and mindless, repetitive toxic hate.

Peace.

I don't mindlessly hate. Why would I suddenly begin to mindlessly hate a team I've supported for years, have a wardrobe of clothes to show that support and visibly supported them at every race I attended? To change from that, to feeling very disappointed and let down and somewhat angry with McLaren ( not hate you note, even then not hate) was far from mindless, it was painful and came about by weighing up facts, making observations and arriving at conclusions. There was nothing mindless about it.

I would say that most teams have bad years and this could be McLaren's, next year, they could come out and dominate, nobody knows what is going on except for the immediate McLaren 'family'. I have never been a fan of sacking personnel because of poor results. I'd much rather work hard and sort out the problems although pulling people off the 2014 development team to help fix the 2013 car seems crazy. The title has gone, McLaren are hopelessly behind after a third of the season, time to put 80% of the eggs in the 2014 basket, using this season to test parts that will transfer over to the 2014 car.

I'd agree wit that Myown. Putting resources into this car at the expense of next year is throwing good money after bad. And I think they must be sorely missing Lowe. They need to regroup and get focused on next year.
And I know you won't agree with this but I question continuing with Button. I'm not just saying that because my personal views about him, but for the following reasons
1. He's getting on a bit and from 2014 things change . I'd be wanting to build a younger team round the new car.
2. He's not brill at car development and there's going to be a lot required with the regs change, and especially for Mclaren with Honda coming on board.
3. His needs are very specific limiting ideas in design.

Those are the main three points really, the others revolve around my personal dislike, so I'll leave it at that.

Great post again mate. Maybe frame the bolded part somewhere for the benefit of a few to be reminded to refrain from their customary whining.

I think you guys are overlooking the fact the they're supposed to announce a title sponsor at the end of the season. The way sponsorship works though, it would be difficult for McLaren to ask top dollar for a long term sponsor contract when they're in the midst of a year where they may not get a podium finish let alone a race win.

I thought Tooned is their title sponsor?

McLaren-Tooned-Honda....sounds badass.
