It was the end of a poor race for Ferrari, whose other driver Felipe Massa also had an engine failure. The Brazilian had spun on the first lap and collided with David Coulthard's Red Bull on lap 26.

A frustrated Coulthard blamed Massa, saying: "You've got to have your car alongside to pass someone, you can't just ram into them.

"I screwed up last year when I tried a move on (Alexander) Wurz but I took full responsibility for it and I would expect Felipe to do the same."

But Massa hit back: "I don't know why he is not very happy.

"He didn't see me. Next time ask him to watch in the mirrors because I was completely inside.

"I'm definitely not going to speak to him."

Wonder if Charlie Whiting will be getting these 2 together for a talk at the next race?

It was a racing incident. There's very little peripheral vision on modern Formula One cars and the positioning of the mirrors means they aren't much use a lot of the time. Coulthard is just gurning, as usual.

Yep and in reference to DC from now on we should all just insert "Grumpy Old Man"!

Yes, he reminds me a bit of Rudy Giuliani - big head, grumpy, and better looking in drag...:mrgreen:

Coulthard is an idiot. He said he knew Massa was there and that he knew he was faster so why did he turn in?

that move just sums up ferraris weekend :D

Well in this case i think Massa was entitled to try to overtake. he was in a race!! and if Coulthard knew he was there he shouldnt have been so arsey and turned in!
I wonder if he tries to land one on Massa cos i doubt massa will apologise :P

DC's being totally unreasonable, it was his fault more than Felipe's.

And that's coming from a Scot

Probably because he knew that if the Ferrari got ahead of him, that position wasn't something he'd get back unless Massa had a problem. The funny thing is that Massa did have a problem later, so DC could well have found himself in the points. I also remember him trying to pull a similar move on Hakkinen in '99, resulting in him clipping Hakkinen and causing him to spin. DC came from miles back in that one and only got the very tip of his front wing past Mika's rear wheel, so that's even worse!

He should have yielded, but I could see why he would hold his ground in the hopes that Massa would back off. Evidently, that gamble didn't pay off and now he looks silly for it. :/

DC DIDN'T hold his ground - that numbnuts closed the door and got punted for it.

By holding his ground I mean continuing through as if he were ahead of Massa, rather than giving way to avoid the inevitable collision.
