I really hope Alonso's season doesn't wind up mirroring Lewis' 2012 efforts.

If Ferrari made half the mistakes which McLaren made last season, they'd be roasted by the Italian tifosis way before they reach the end of the season. :hehe:

Or one could say that if McLaren had replicated Ferrari's mistakes this year, back when Hamilton was driving for them, they'd have been ripped to shreds here :whip:

Ferrari have cost themselves some big points so far this year, as the article correctly points out.

That's a very poignant observation. Red Bull have proven the masters of making Ferrari pay a high price for a few missed points over the course of a season.

And yet Ferrari have made more gain relative to this time last year than Red Bull have, even with Alonso's mistake and the errors. So if the errors and mistakes don't become McLarenesque Ferrari are still looking strong.

The F1.com site has a nice animation of Ferrari's foot operated DRS switch system. It makes a lot of sense to me and seems like a much better way to operate it than a hand operated switch. On and off with the natural braking action at the beginning and end of the deployment.

Apparently the team did some straight line testing at Idiada ahead of the Spanish GP. As well as the working on an upgrade package for this race, I'd be willing to be they did some testing on the DRS actuator and any changes they have made there. Aerodynamic Test for Ferrari

April 26, 2013 – Lotus and Ferrari will be engaged in these days that close the month of April, to test some aerodynamic elements ahead of the next GP in Spain, which will take place in Barcelona in a few weeks. For both teams it will fine tune the components still under development, as well as decide on new updates.

In particular, the Lotus, who will coach our Davide Valsecchi, focus on famous DDRSsystem, which still needs to find the right stability in order to be used in the race.

The team of Enstone has for months been involved in this project, which for a pressure game exploits in an absolutely autonomous, the possibility to decrease the pressure in the Center area under the rear wing.

The advantage that it takes is an effect similar to DRS double used by a couple of team until 2012 and put into operation by special channels located in the side wing panels, which were fuelled when the driver activates the system mobile wing straight.

The latter being a streamlined pilot-controlled device, was outlawed by the Federation who admits for rulebook. The Lotus, will carry out the test on the runway at Duxford, where last year was the accident that ended the career of Spanish María de Villota.

The Ferrari instead will travel to Spain in Idiada (Spain), the system designed for the dynamic tests on racing cars and series, similar in concept to that of Italian Vairano. The Scuderia of Maranello, will test specifically and away from prying eyes, the new aerodynamic package for the race of Montemelò that will be held Sunday, may 12.

At the moment the nature of updates that will appear at Barcelona on F138 is absolutely top secret, though probably they will affect different parts of the car such as the aging of the body in the area of the exhaust, wing appendages and other parts.

As well as the straight line testing done at Idiada, the F150 was spotted at Barcelona. My guess is they were testing a DRS mod.

Not as jealous as I am concerned about my time left here actually. I always prefer being the criminal instead of the police, life is more fun that way. :D
