I LOVE LAUREL AND HARDY!!!

(AS WELL AS FATHER TED!!!)

I love Laurel and Hardy too - some of my favourite video tapes when I was growing up were two VHS tapes called 'Laurel and Hardy - the laughing 20's', with half a dozen of their earliest acts. I'm sure I still have them somewhere. :)

I seem to recall the Laughing 20s too.

I grew up with a family that adored Laurel & Hardy, so as a child, I was already well acquainted with them. That love has never died, and I can watch their films over and over again, and they never cease to be amusing. :cloud9:

Do you have a favourite?

I honestly don't have a favourite, mainly because I've never seen a film of theirs that I didn't like. I was the same - it was my grandparents that loved them and bought my brother and I the videos we had. I've got a few dvd's too, keep meaning to get the boxed set but not gotten round to it yet.

There is a DVD boxed set at my family abode, back in Lancashire. Definitely a worthwhile purchase. It has all the silent films as well. :)

Most have the option of watching in colour, or black-and-white. I generally prefer the latter.

I never said that. If it's an act of self defence after requests to stop or bugger orf, i.e. last resort then yes I would say it is perfectly acceptable.

After homophobic remark, Moss drops sexist bomb

What a total a-hole! A real class act.

Wow, I would never expected such comments from a racing legend like Moss; although I can see where he is coming from with the female racing drivers, the evidence we have seems to back him up. That said I would love for a female driver to come in and beat the men at their own game, but is is a male dominated world, so few females get a chance to drive in F1!

If they do make it, they end up in a tail-end team. If someone is skilled enough to drive in F1 they should be in F1 regardless of their umpalumpa.

I agree but we are not the people running the teams in F1, there is still quite a lot of sexism in motorsport in general, is it just true that its 99% men that want to be race drivers or is it that women are not given the same opportunities in motorsport, I suspect it's the later!

It's a law of probabilities...out of 10 people who want to be race car drivers, 9 are men. The likelihood of finding a Formula 1 racer who's a woman is just so minute. That's not anybody's fault.

It's probably a combination of the 2. Motorsport is predominantly a male dominated sport (for the high level jobs inc. drivers at least). I would say that not enough is done to encourage female drivers though having a female racing in F1 could go someway to helping this, even if she was running in the mid-field as she would show that being a female F1 driver is possible.

I think it's a wide spread problem with engineering in general. Apart from admin/accounts/buying I've only ever worked with 1 female engineer in 15 years. I think it's that, when younger, girls don't see engineering as a career to get into. And not because they are not clever enough (because they sure are), or because they don't have the ability - just that it's not 'seen' as a thing for girls to do. So maybe changes need to start at school, to show them it is an option....
