yap exactly Jabber!

but I think in America it's not a crime, is it? As I know that they do these reproductions on Pontiac and MR2 chassis, there's even a website, I don't remember its name!

you can get kit cars here aswell, i didnt think it was a crime though, it has to be registered to drive and you would have to have it registered with the vin number of the original chassis

Big difference selling a ferrari replica as a replica than selling a replica as an actual Ferrari.

The difference was Ferrari did not give permission to this outfit. Kits that use a Fiero or some such chassis, whether the consumer builds it ir buys it completed, if it's legit, it had permission from the trademark holder, who may or may not get a cut. How many Seven or Cobra kits are out there?

There is only one Seven kit and that is made by Caterham, all the others are classed as LoCost, and built around the Ron Champion "how to build a sports car for £250" book.

People like Westfield, MK, DAX, Robin Hood etc Do build Lotus 7 style cars but they all have there own changes to the design that make the design theres. be it Square front lights, wider chassis, etc

The copies are not exact but unless you know what you are looking for you would never be able to tell.
