Its laughable that so many people were eager to equate Mercs future with its recent team building past.
Here is the company that invented the motorcar as we know it today, already dominated motor racing Whilst Ferrari were using Alfa Romeo engines. They left F1 not because they are fickle but because of a horrific incident involving the death of spectators.
They have been back 3 years and have done what Red Bull did in the years leading up to their dominant run - spent top dollar for top staff
They have committed to the sport for the near future, have a brand AMG that thirsts for racing pedigree to allow its road cars to stand by Ferraris in the show room. They have an abundance of experience engineers and managers, they have restructured and invested in aero facilities to put them on a level playing field with the leaders. They have the fastest and most expensive driver going
Yet the armchair experts confidently predict that LH has made a stupid move and that Merc cannot possibly do a RBR, not because they dont have the funds or the expertise or the engines, but because the last 3 years has seen them do poorly.
So if this is true about poaching McLarens remaining top top guy, will the experts declare that Paddy Lowe has also made a stupid move or is that reserved just for LH?
like I said on here before McLaren are going down, and Merc are going up
Williams lose Wolfe to Merc, and McLaren gain Sam Michaels from Williams
McLaren lose LH to Merc, and gain Perez from Sauber
McLaren lose (apparently) Paddy Lowe to Merc and gain who? Gary Anderson from the BBc
