 you seem to have got me wrong. Yes I am a Jenson fan, just like I am a fan of many other drivers. I have never said that Jenson is the fastest driver in F1. However I am also unblinkered and able to make well informed and balanced input unlike some members of this forum.

I can't imagine any team honchos, who, with Norbert being ousted, would be content to sit back and say "Let's put all our effort into the 2014 car," simply because, they may not be around to see it succeed.

Remember the earth car? I'm not saying I think Brawn'll pull that one again but it shows it has happened before.

That's because you can't. There's two/three maybe four drivers that can make an arguable claim, and Jenson isn't one of them. There's nothing 'wrong with someone saying Lewis or Fernando or Sebastian is the fastest man in F1 because there is some legitimacy to that claim. Yeah it boils down to opinion, and yeah there are those fans (of any driver not just Lewis) that think their man's crap smells like roses. But There is a fair bit of legitimacy to claim that Lewis is the fastest man in F1, arguable, and you wouldn't be laughed out of your bar stool for saying it like you would for saying that about Jenson, and that's why you've never said it... because it would be an empty claim so I wouldn't go bragging too much about never having said that. :D

Jenson is one of the smartest drivers in F1, that's better.

without spiralling into another world v hamilton bun fight. This all came about because a Mercedes team member (I assume that as he said "We") confused matters by saying

Of course, we also have the "fastest man in F1" on our side, so that's got to count for something.

No one really knows how fast Nico is! Schumacher could of still been at his 7 time world champion level and was made to look like an amateur, or Schumacher could of been on the same level as Al Pease.

Lets hope this is not the 1st sign of Mercedes becoming only an engine supplier again.

Far from being a disaster, that's what won Button his championship.

Honda pulled out of the sport because of it, pretty big disaster i'd say.

I'm actually looking forward to 2013. I do believe that Vettel will get his 4th straight, but that things will change next year, I hope at least we get a RBR/Ferrari bitter battle till the end, just to keep the season from gettings stagnant, but given the going forward with the engine reqs, it's hard to not put Mercedes in a very strong position to challenge in 2014.

The question is, will they have a car this this year that can challenge for the top five every race and the answer IMO, with Lewis behind the wheel is yes.

If this is actually going to happen (nobody official has said anything about it yet) then doesn't it create a conflict of interest, considering his stake in Williams?

I reckon Honda pulled out because they couldn't build an engine to compliment the car and it wouldn't have looked too good to be Honda-Mercedes.
IMO they did it to see their car win even though it wouldn't be their name on it or their engine in it.

The earth car's only job was to turn up for the races and possibly some evaluation while for 2 or 3 years Honda took the best of their own people and the best from Super Aguri along with their pooled resources and built 3 cars, the best of which was the car that gave Button the 2009 championship. Honda didn't pull out of F1 because of the earth car, they knew what it was and they knew what Brawn had built.
