Yes the triple world champion is young, imature and does not know what he is doing!

Look at his fight/pass with Button at Austin.

Relatively speaking, yes he's less mature and takes more risks than Kimi.
Winning doesn't mean his mature, he can be fast, talented and a great young driver or even greatest and still take silly risks that could cost him the championship.

And for the question whether he knows what he's doing, well simply compare radio communication from race engineer to Kimi and Vettel. Vettel needs more advice and talk then Kimi, who knows what he is doing:)

Noticed the difference how the more senior or should I say mature drivers like Kimi drove. Avoiding accidents even if you would not be penalized. First round just before Senna hit Vettel who bytheway was slow and going all over the road, Kimi had to drive off road to avoid hitting vettel. So vettel was lucky to avoid bigger crash the way he unnecessarily defended his position in the first lap. 2nd was the overtaking of Schumi when Kimi and Schumi were going almost wheels locked between 2-3 corners without crashing. Compared to that fight it was a bit dissapointing how easily Schumi let Vettel pass him.
Still overall a solid season for Kimi, not a single DNF!!! With the young crash kings driving around the mid pack that is pretty good result.

The problem is the young guys think you have to do all your overtaking in the first lap. It's like when you play a F1 game. You dive up the inside into turn 1 and crash a few cars but you overtake about 15 cars aswell. The older, experienced drivers know the race is not over in lap 1. Just look at Vettel in Abu Dhabi and Interlagos. When the young guys learn this they're going to be great drivers.

Interlagos *would* have been over for Vettel on lap 1 were it not a wet race. It also wouldn't have been as exciting a race as it was, so a big thank you to the entertainment gods.

Maybe that's the case, yes. But it still proves my point.

Which point is that? The point that Vettel still belongs to the young and immature drivers group? He was taking unnecessary risk while defending his position during first lap. He could have let a few drivers pass and not risking a touch with Senna, and come back during the race (which he did in the end).

So Vettel and Lewis too, are still there somewhere between the young crash kings and the more mature drivers.

That said, the way Vettel drives makes the races more entertaining, as he takes the risks and doesn't just do the minimum to win.

No, the point being that the race isn't over in lap 1.

Why are some drivers aplauded for being risk takers and branded a "racer" yet others are lambasted for doing the same thing? Odd.

There's risk and there's risk. During the season it's s bit different situation then at the end of the season when you're close to winning the WDC.

Or when you team is winning the first points etc. situations are different.
And still I think it's great that some of the drivers take inecessary risk it makes races more interesting.

I think Vettel might be the only other driver that Grosjean hasn't hit during a race! :hehe:

Actually, there was a very small contact. Remember Monaco start? Well, Vettel moved to the right side as much as he could, but there was still a small contact between his left rear tire and Grosjean's front wing. Luckily, no puncture. :D
