Despite all the controversy, I don't want the title to change hands; what happens in the race, should stay in the race; I believe punishments shouldn't be handed out retrospectively. If the Stewards cannot make a decision during the course of the race, then let sleeping dogs lie.

I think we've come upon the only topic ever the forum as a whole seems to be in agreement. :yikes:

No one wants the results changed.

But you're getting a little rambunctious there with the stewards cannot make a decision during the course of a race then let sleeping dogs lie comment.

There are a ton of reasons why the stewards would make a decision post race. What if the RBR failed scrutineering for example. We've had Sauber's both cars disqualified in the not too distant past. Then there's the question of data acquiring and needing to look at on board footage or data post race before a decision is made. We're talking about whether he passed on a yellow flag or not, but what if the car had been illegal post race? Absolutely that you can change the outcome of an event and there's been plenty of precedence in the past doing just that.

It's possible to want to know what happened (or didn't happen) without wanting the championship to be changed. If the stewards did make mistakes, then it's best to know this so that the FIA and its stewards can be asked to be more careful in future.

OK, maybe I should have worded it as "events that take place during the course of the race", not technical infringements etc.

I believe punishments shouldn't be handed out retrospectively.

Better yet, retroactively.

I'm just saying...

Yes; I did realise my mistake when I read the post back a few moments ago before I read your post... nobodies perfect, not even me! :P

That should be "nobody's perfect".

Nessuno è perfetto, ma qui vuol essere un nessuno?

Speaking of speaking Italian: I thought there's a directive that teams ought to use English in their radio communications? Ferrari often throws Italian at FM and FA (both of whom are NOT native Italian speakers). Are there any penalties for this flagrant disregard of the FIA's wishes (with the audience in mind)? Should Ferrari get stripped of their constructors' points for every race they used Italian? :P

A) DD there is no such FiA rule
B) Vlad, everyone speaks English do they? That will come as quite a surprise to most of China, India and the Latino world. FYI Ferrari is an Italian team based in Italy - shock horror, they speak Italian. Still, I'm totally convinced they'll be mortified when they find out you're life is made more difficult when they speak in their native tongue.
