24th to 3rd ain't too shabby for someone who can't overtake.

On a hard to pass circuit.

A hard-to-pass circuit that has just proved it can provide THRILLING racing! :D

Darn tootin' but I see some are still unconvinced.

And what was it how the saying goes? He can't overtake? He can only win from the front?
Well, this 3rd place counts like a win in my book

Just to keep a perspective on things, everything that could help a guy starting from the pitlane happened today...2 safety cars (with well timed pit stops even after he mucked up breaking his wing twice) and a dogfight between multiple cars taking each other out in the midfield.

I was rooting for him today to get up there with Alonso, but he was very lucky in many ways to get 3rd. It takes fighting spirit to make luck work though, and he definitely had that so good on him.

He drove a good race (but not even one of his best) but you'd be blinkered to ignore the massive, massive helping hand given to him by both safety cars and the raft of incidents.

Can someone get in contact with Vettel i want him to pick out my euro lottery numbers.

Lets face it, he couldn't have asked for a more perfect day in terms of the race, lots of incidents, 2 safety cars, both timed perfectly allowing him to close large gaps, one was 25 seconds at one point, the only time he was going wheel to wheel was button and Grosjean really, he had to go off the track to pass Grosjean initially and had fresher, soft tires for button, hardly difficult stuff considering he easily has the best performing car on the grid because of Adrian Newey, when his car isn't performing, i.e mid season and he comes through even from 10th, with no safety cars or huge slices of good fortune, then I will class him at the same level as Lewis and Alonso.

Good thing I don't give a rat's arse about your opinion, so class him however you want.

Damn thems some sour grapes! The lad done good regardless of who things transpired on the track. To try and belittle the efforts of a driver (any driver) starting last and working their way up through the field to 3rd despite them ending up stone motherless last at one point during the race is sheer stupidity! I dare say that had whichever driver you support had done the same as Vettel you'd be hailing it as the greatest drive in the history of F1.

There is an element of luck in pretty much every race win.

So having a safety car which 1) set up the scenario for terminal wing damage, 2) put him back 10 seconds AND 9 places and 3) ruins his one-stop strategy is considered luck?
Having drivers BEHIND run into each other is considered luck?

Superb champion's drive with 1 real mistake.
