Both Hamilton and Vettel stopped near the very end of the lap. Now, this is an interesting question: why the hell did the teams stop them? I mean, seriously, be realistic, you will get the penalty 1 way or another.

Engine damage if they run completely out of petrol maybe? You could be right though, especially in Vettel's case, it should have been clear what was going to happen,

I'm pretty sure Hamilton didn't have any fuel to complete the lap.

With Vettel, I'm not sure. Maybe they didn't know exactly how much was left and they thought that the technical issue would be good enough reason for stopping out on track.

Well, with that amount of fuel they could have easily bring it home. We are talking about 2 corners...

Perhaps you'd like to respond to the content of the argument, rather than it's presentation?

There was no argument...I watch F1 for the racing and I support Hamilton. The argument you presented was stupid, since I've been watching the sport since 1998 and have the right to criticize a team which negatively influences a driver I support. There's no rule saying I should call out all the faults of teams and drivers on the grid, since I'm not paid to be a judge or jury on the sport.

Where can I find data on the top speeds for different cars?

http://www.fia.com/en-GB/mediacentre/f1 ... ation.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Under the Timing Information section.

Thanks.

Interesting to note that the highest qualifiers tended to have relatively low trap speeds. With the exception of Maldonado who may be behind drivers with much slower top speeds once DRS is allowed. That could be interesting.

No, but you seemed highly interested in the event in question (well highly interested relative to normal levels of interest on this forum), I kinda find it strange you make such a big differentiation, between, what Redbull did, and what McLaren did, although the events appear pretty similar based on who Lewis Hamilton drives for, I just think, in this case, the driver in question is pretty much irrelevant.

I never denied that Redbull were idiots in this instance, so what are you on about? I just don't care! Does that cause you to lose sleep tonight? That's your problem, not mine.

Where's andrew btw...seems to have dissapeared suddenly. I guess he'll be back when Vettel takes his next pole/win somewhere. :hehe:
