Now lets see Mercs season review so far...

- won one race
- couple of podiums
- fought for scraps of points or in the midfield the rest of the time
- very distant 5th despite considerable resources and perhaps one of the biggest budgets

Does that cover everything in a nutshell? :hehe:

Yes Lewis had his work cut out next year that's for sure. Can't wait to watch that. But guys this is the Mclaren thread not the Mercedes thread

This is conjecture on your part but I'm curious as to what makes you say that. Red Bull has outspent everyone even Ferrari the last couple of seasons so Mercedes would have to be putting in well over 200 million dollars a year.

As I understand it Mercedes are constrained by FOTA to RRA whereas Red bull have ingenious methods of avoiding such constraints. I admit to finding the whole RRA situation confusing. Bah. Now you've got me talking about Red Bull AND Mercedes on the 'Mclaren thread!!

Ingenious such as getting out of FOTA :P:hehe:

In the last 5 years since joining McLaren Lewis has managed 25 poles while his teammates (including 2 reigning WCs) have managed 3 in total.

So some genius at the team decided that qualy is not important in this Pirelli era and have contrived to end up with 2 drivers with single pace issues

How does that work?

Try recording something like "...but our guys are great racers and will come through the field" and sending the tape to Whitmarsh for 2013 post quali interviews.

Just dont get it, when has the WC been won from row 3 or 4 on the grid?

Do Mclaren expect their car to be suddenly 1 second faster than the rest?

How are they gonna challenge for a WCC (or WDC) with 2 drivers who win when the front runners have issues?

Do they think Red Bull will disappear next year? Or that Button can emulate Alonso this year?

Ah, hold on, maybe they dont intend to challenge and just want to look and talk like a top team hoping that this will make the public who can afford 200k for a road car suddenly decide that the MP-12c is a better purchase than the 458 or Merc SLS?

Mind boggling stuff!

really wish a real McLaren follower could furnish us with some ideas (apart from the usual conspiracy ooh! stuff)

nah all gone silent
