Not sure who it was but I couldn't let it go... someone here said that pole didn't mean squat in Singapore.

2011 Vettel wins, starts from pole.
2010 Alonso wins, starts from pole
2009 Hamilton wins, starts from pole
2008 Alonso wins, starts from ... erm 15th, but wins dues to a bit of divine intervention.

Let's not jinx it...anyway, whoever said it doesn't mean squat probably doesn't know wtf he's talking about as usual.

Btw, are you trying to say Flavio is God/an Angel?

Flavio Briatore's divine is he? :yikes:

I think under the current fragile tyres, KERS and DRS combo', pole may not be as vital as it has been in the past. All depends on the weather and when the inevitable safety car appears.

What's different this year with KERS? What's different this year with DRS? What's different this year with the Pirelli tires?

It's the combination of the 3 and the lack of the EBD. Everything's been closer this season.

But all the teams had EBD taken away, and last year when Vettel did what he usually did, and what others have usually done in Singapore since it began, all three KERS, DRS and Pirelli combination was also in place.

Anyway, let's see if Lewis is the first to break the pattern.

Mclaren have been saying they're going for pole all week. You could tell Lewis was going for that, and he was actually pretty close to wrecking it at least twice. For some reason, Vettel looked more into bringing it home. Who knows what reason there is; but considering where Vettel started in Spa and where he finished, it seems he's rather chill.

Ferrari has very good starts. Massa had such a good one in Monza, dont think he was counting on that he could have passed Lewis. So as long as Alonso has a clean start... Its just sit and hope the time bomb goes off in front of him.

Vettel, Maldonado, Lewis or Alonso can take the win.

The tires have made pole position more important this year, especially on a tight street circuit, being out front is key to managing the tire wear. Pit stops and the safety car are going to be the big factors I think.

I picked maldonado to win in the f1 pool. Might be a bit crazy but he usually has raw race pace. The incidents tho... let's not go there :P I think hamilton might just let him by :hehe: realistically getting 18 points vs 0 points at this point in the championship is a much better option!

GET INVOLVED
It's time for this week's edition of Lawro's Podium Predictions where I name my top three and then you tell me why I'm completely wrong and suggest your own trio with a reason for those choices.

I can't see anyone other than Lewis Hamilton taking victory, but I do fancy Sebastian Vettel to nip into second and Fernando Alonso to salvage third. Tweet us using the #bbcf1 hashtag or text 81111 (UK only).
Plz win :hehe:
