I think non fossil fuel vehicles are the way forward, as for changing cars every few laps what a pile of poo. motorsport should push boundaries of technology. So if the cars slow slightly, the designers need to do a better job at making the car more efficient.

This is known in the states as "bumper cars".

Anyway, electric is the way to go in the future. This way we can harness all kinds of renewable energy like wind, solar, hydroelectric, geothermal, etc. to power whatever we want.
